Like A Man Chasing A Hat: Yanks-Sox Gamer II

Mix a man, a cap, and a strong breeze and hilarity ensues as he stumbles through the street trying to recapture some dignity. Pop quiz: when’s the last time the Yankees won back-to back games? Answer: not since mid-fricking-August. New York is knotted with Baltimore for the lead in the East and has played .500 ball since July 1st. The Red Sox celebrated last night as birthday boy Jacoby Ellsbury brought the cake and ate it too, going 4-5 with a walk-off rib against David Robertson and the Bombers last night. If you follow trends, there’s mediocrity on the way tonight as the indecisive David Phelps (three NDs in his last three starts) faces the Sox while Aaron Cook (5 losses in 5 starts with 17 earned over 25 innings) gets the rock against the Bombers at Fenway.

  • Ciriaco actually didn’t come through for once. I’m in a cab to the airport but by chance my cabbie is a Yanks fan and has the game on. Smile. Phelps pulled. V quick hook by Girardi. Can’t say I blame him, but do we really have that deep of a pen after last night?

  • I want to say it was like 13 walk off’s in ’09?

    I think that’s right…

We used to do that. Never give up, comeback victories, big plays to win games…those were the days man, those were the days…

I’m trying to tell myself that we looked this bad in ’00, limped into the playoffs and dominated. Maybe? Possibly???
