Is it just me or do other people immediately think of this when they hear the name of the Sox’ new second baseman?

  • Not a bad pickup, but here’s the good news for the Yanks: Juan Pierre is now a Cubbie—which means the Yanks won’t have Womack redux in CF and at the top of the lineup.

  • More good news for the Yanks: Their chief rival just got a good second baseman!
No wait, thats bad news for them…

  • Yeah, I was bummed when I thought that the Sox were gonna ge Loretta for Wells. They did even better. But no Pierre is fine by me.

  • Soriano is going to DC for Wilkerson and possibly the best named player since Odibee McDowell, Termel Sledge. Just more proof that Washington’s moron GM needs to stay the heck out of Boston.

  • Wow, what a stupid deal for the Nats. Does Bowden actually understand statistics or does he think in rotisserie terms?
    You think Theo is watching?

  • Hey, here’s a free agent who’s happy to go to the Yanks — J. Damon (link at Soxaholix).
Why did the Sox offer arbitration to Mueller and Graffanino after getting Lowell and Loretta?

  • Because they knew that Mueller and Graffanino were seeking long-term deals and they get compensation draft picks that way.

  • another good deal for the sox. are these teams cheating for boston? how is this a fair trade?

  • The Padres have instructed all their pitchers to learn a knuckleball in the offseason, Nick. Mandatory. They needed someone to catch their new fluttering staff.

  • Ricciardi seems to be giving Omar a run for his money in the Busiest GM Beaver category: Jays now have Lyle Overbay. He’s not Carlos Delgado in the power department, but he can hit and get on base and will offer Vernon Wells some protection, I guess. Or maybe he’ll bat ahead of Wells. Whatever the case, Toronto is beefing up on all fronts, and pretty soon this blog’ll have to add a BJF to the mix.

  • beth, for the record I don’t think there’s any cheating going on. I’m using hyperbole to make a point. I think you know something about that. No?
