Manny Shown the Gate?

Manny Ramirez has been removed from tonigjht’s lineup. The possibilities are:

A. Manny’s been traded

or

B. Francona asked Manny to play today.

We await the answer…

  • I wish the lamos in the telecast booth will tell us if Manny’s in the dugout!

  • According to mlb.com:
“Manny Ramirez was pulled from the starting lineup, but the Sox said there was no trade to report and that Ramirez was scratched for unspecified reasons.”
Who knows if it’s true though? I’ve heard nothing else.

  • Also, it doesn’t really matter whether manny’s in the dugout or not. If he’s injured, he would probably be in the clubhouse anyway, although, I agree, it would be nice to know.

  • Apparently nothing is going on, so says the press. Thank god. For now at least.

  • C. Pipped by Kapler

  • Big, big mistake if they trade him, not only because of the RBI vacuum that will ensue, but because of what it will mean to Ortiz and the kinds of pitches he has grown accustomed to seeing. Look for Papi’s average to drop by 20 points, at least.
    DO NOT TRADE MANNY!

  • Ortiz will walk twice as much if Manny goes. Witness tonight, when they intentionally walked him to pitch to Olerud instead. No way anyone does that when Manny’s batting behind Ortiz.
Whatever happens, I’ll sure be glad when the trade deadline has passed. Too many rumors and theories to keep track of.

  • At this point, it doesn’t look like he’ll be traded, thank god. Tito said that he’ll be sitting tomorrow, too, though. And it was Tito’s decision to sit him.
On a different note, tomorrow’s starter will be Jon Papelbon. This could be very interesting. At the worst, we lose the game, but still take the series. At best, we win and sweep. I think that this is a good time to expirament, if only because there isn’t really anyone else to make the start. Unless we start Miller, which would mess up our entire rotation, which would not be good.

  • I told my manager I didn’t want to play tonight. 15 minutes later I said I would. He told me I wouldn’t. Go figure.

  • the latest rumor is that the mets and sox are going to have a go at it without the d-rays being involved. Cliff Floyd was scratched from the line-up saturday. perhaps he’ll be included in a deal. this from will carrol at BP.

  • The Sox didn’t do anything. It’s official. Thank god for that.

  • Yup thank god. Now you can keep booing him at home.

  • You mean like when YF’s boo’d Mariano Rivera this year in Game 2? Or when they collectively boo’d Derek Jeter after his slow start last year? Or, when they have boo’d everyone who ever donned the ragged pinstripes?
Hello kettle, I’m the pot and I’m black too!
Your memory seems to be very, very short EightySeven. I should not have to remind you of how the boos and “you sucks” have turned into complete jubilation for the juice head Giambi, do I? Seems there is a blindfold on now that he’s carrying your team, right? Please, let the guy bat .220 for a month (like hes definitely going to), strike out with men on base a few too many times..I await your cheers then.
I can’t believe yankee fans are chastising RSN for booing Manny. Personally, I happen to think if you boo ManRam, you should be taken out in the street and beaten senseless for it, but that’s just me. Several people feel that when you drop a Benjamin for a bleacher seat at the Fens, Manny should be playing…especially if they asked him to, and he said no.
I love Manny on this team, as I personally think he is what gives the team its character, but if I want to boo someone, well, like I said…I’m the pot, nice to meet you.
