Moose On The Quick Step: M’s-Yanks Gamer V

Mike Mussina pitches on short rest to help spell Wang’s game leg. The Mariners have had a dismal season thus far, and have been especially bleak against the Yankees; if there was a day for the M’s to break out, this is probably it, but it seems the Yankee engine is coming to life.

  • Glad we’re missing King Felix, but something tells me that Washburn, a lefty, is going to have the best start of his season tomorrow.
Melky has been absolutely horrendous in May. Might it be time to give him some time off, maybe see what Gardner can do?
Cano has been rather good in May, batting a very back-of-the-baseball-card-like .313/.352/.463. I’ll take it.

  • Man, Giambi has been great. His OPS is around 1.050 in May.
    C’mon Cano!

  • On the radio (John S had another “it is high, it is far, it is caught at the wall), Giambi apparently passed Paul O’Neil’s Yanks HR list.

  • Ah, damn. They did the smart thing and walked Cano to get to Nieves-like Molina. Now it’s up to Melky.

  • And Melky comes through!
    Now it’s up to Damon.

  • I Hadn’t found a new favorite player since Don Mattingly retired. Not Jeter. Not A-Rod, etc. But last season I finally found him and he’s on the mound right now !
    go 62

  • Alright Bobby! That makes Joba’s innings much easier.

  • Giambi now has a .900 OPS. I don’t think the Yankees will be Frank Thomas-ing him very soon.

  • How was Farns today? I had to leave to go somewhere, but was wondering if he just sucked it up, or if it was because of the 12-4 lead (and thus, just threw it so they can hit it)..
