More Of The Same: Yanks-Rays Gamer II

Granderson is out with a broken bone in his hand and is projected to miss four weeks, marking another injury to a major cog in the Yankees machine. The injury wheel of fortune seems to be set on “repeat” right now as Granderson keeps getting knocked up by inside pitches. ARod missed a month and a half with a similar injury to his hand last year. New York and Boston are tied in the wins column for the Beast, and the Yankees charge Vidal Nuno to hold the Rays at bay in the Bay of St. Petersburg. Whichever way you want to call the “luck” of the Yankees, this season is most definitely the one thing that, as a fan, you might not necessarily want but secretly covet: it is interesting.

  • at the risk of sounding like a fair weather fan, it would be much less interesting if the yankees weren’t winning…adding to the fun is that there seems to be a different hero every night…and then there’s mo, who just seems destined to add to his already other-worldly legend…i can’t make this sound right, because nobody wants to see any player injured, but if there is a silver lining in the over-population of the DL, it’s that the yankees are forced to be a lot more creative than in the past…some of the experienced castoffs are getting a 2nd life with this team, and better yet, we are finally getting a chance to see what some of the future yankees look like at the major league level…it’s foolhardy to get too jacked up over the first couple of months even though it’s nice seeing these guys [and the sox, for that matter] stick it to the self-proclaimed “experts”…i’m sure girardi and cashman love how things are going so far after constantly getting their work critiqued with the worn out disclaimer about the yankees always playing checkbook baseball…hey, how about them dodgers and angels?…at least the astros and marlins have an excuse for stinkin’ up the joint…sure i’d love to get jeter, tex, and others back…it’s bound to make us even better, and it’s probably unrealistic to expect this current cast to keep it up over the long haul…arod? arod?…forgot about him
