Mo(s?) Don’t Fail Me Now

Just wanted to nip this one in the bud before certain Sox fans or Yanks doom-and-gloom types felt the need to bring it up: Mariano Rivera is again going to be dominant in 2006. In fact, count on him being the Yankees’ closer for the next 60 years. He’s related to Nosferatu (if you were interested in the biological reason). The technical word for what he’s done in his career is Wowza! Enjoy him while your grandchildren are applying to graduate programs.

  • I’d be willing to bet you he doesn’t make it to 2023. Don’t be such a hyperbolist.

  • apparently SF hasn’t checked out PECOTA’s career projections:
In 2066, Mo announces his retirement from baseball (a blister problem crops up in the clinching world series game 4 win against the Baghdad Astros) to head Emperor George Bush XVI’s National Council on Fitness, only to return to the Yankees the following year, citing his disgust with the Bush’s love of the Texas Red Sox.

  • “Emperor George Bush XVI”. I like the sound of that. He could then outlaw soccer (which everyone knows is a girl’s game anyway) and elevate baseball to it’s rightful position as the world’s greatest sport.
