Movin’ On Up?

Word on the Sox media street is that friend of YFSF Rob Bradford — considered by many to be one of the, if not the, fairest and most talented writers on the beat — is about to be hired by the Boston Herald.

If true, it would certainly reinvigorate the competition between the Herald and the Globe, which has two superior beat reporters in Gordon Edes and Amalie Benjamin. It would be interesting where Bradford would fit in the Herald’s lineup. In my opinion, he would be a significant improvement over either Jeff Horrigan or Michael Silverman (assuming Tony Massarotti is the general baseball writer), but they have years and years of seniority. Still, we can always hope.

There’s no reporter covering the Red Sox more deserving of the success seen by reporters like Edes, Sean McAdam and Massarotti. Here’s hoping Rob is on his way.

  • I’m being selfish when I say I don’t want him to go. There’s a clear underdog quality that goes with his superior writing and reporting that just won’t be the same if he joins the Herald.
Just the same, he’s clearly deserving.
As much as I love the Globe team (sans CHB, of course) Bradford easily is the fans’ Red Sox reporter.
