I had wanted to construct a post-mortem about the weekend series (wtf. I’m so out of it I forgot it was a weekday series and it’s Thursday – ag), but I’m just drained, truly drained by The Rivalry™ right now. I guess it’s good timing for anyone who feels as I do that I’ve got a day off from tracking the *insert team here*. Fortunately for your viewing pleasure, YFSF regular Andrews has contributed a set of images he captured at Saturday’s Sox vs. Yanks game in the Bronx, complete with his commentary. Clickety click to the extended for his snaps and “snaps”. Thanks, Andrews!

Wily Mo was the only player who had to stand within earshot of the section where fans are allowed to hang out during BP. Although he probably should have been shagging flies, he didn’t move much; this prompted plenty of catcalls. Even the SF’s were getting down on him. Funny.

Leche is obviously pondering his weak hitting here…

Timlin gets in his running before the game

Since Mo hardly pitches anymore, it looks like he’s considering a move to CF. He made some nice, athletic catches.

Ditto

Inexplicably, Manny was the only player standing on the field???? during “God Bless America”

The scoreboard at the time

Hey, it’s a shorter walk out to RF LF from there, though

The “beautiful mosaic” of fans in tier reserve sec 16

Clippard proves that the pitchers are back on a running program
Thanks again, Andrews, great stuff.
You got pics? Send ’em my way.
those are great…but I didn’t realize Manny played RF?? :)
QUick 1-2-3 on 11 pitches for Lester.
Ellsbury works a walk out of 8 pitches. I like him. I really do.
Hey its SUper Joe!
Peakign at the Greenville Driv egame via my misbought day pass.
It looks a lot better then I expected, though a small box. I may have to go for the MLB version after all.
Funny thing.. you can HEAR the cricket in Lexington. So thats minor league ball… kinda neat.
Thanks, Andrews. Great pic of Mo tracking one down – Damon would lose the “better arm” contest, for sure.
Also, I am not sure it’s “inexplicable” that Manny came out for GBA. He’s a naturalized US citizen and a couple of years back that was a pretty big deal for him when it happened. Perhaps he’s still feeling the love.
1-2-3. 7 pitches for Lester.
So who do they cut out of the rotation when Lester’s ready – Curt or Julian?
;-)
Lester may have been experimenting with some of his pitches this inning as his at bats have increased in lenght a bit. He went full on the first two batters, before getting Motola to pop out and Hatti-oh-who-the-heck-cares to fly out. Nondescript-batter then grounds out on the first ptich.
1-2-3 for Lester. 30 pitches total through 3.
SF, thats tough. If the Yankees are the people we’re playing I say you let Julian have Curt’s start. My theory is the pretty boy Yanks can’t stand the sight of JJT’s Krueger-Demon-Face. ;-)
THigpen breaks up Lesters perfect game with a single.
Good. I don’t care abotu minor league games. Lets let Lester get some work out of the stretch in and see how he responds.
Wow. As I typed the above, he responds by recording his first K of the night on three pitches.
Through 4, 44 ptiches – 28 for strikes, 16 balls.
Its seems the one thing, so far, I’d tell him is not to get behind the hitters, throw less balls. Granted about 3 or 4 of them were, frome Gameday, reeeeeeaaaallly close calls that could have easily been strikes.
Lester out after 5 with only 65 pitches thrown. Clearly still on a pitch count. They really are mvoing slowly with him.
His line
3 Hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
65 pitches, 39 for strikes.
So he seems to be progressing. I’d want him to throw more strikes. I dont know if it’d be so in the majors, but he seems to be playing very well to contact. 6 of his outs were recorded via infield popout.
