Not Fully Loaded: A’s-Sox Gamer II

One would imagine that Tazawa and Bailey are not available today since Mortensen probably eliminated any chance he sticks in this ‘pen with his stinker of an outing yesterday and forced the two valuable back-end arms into the game. Tazawa did not have his typical velocity yesterday and worked two days in a row plus two innings recently in Cleveland. Bailey has pitched an inning in each of the last three days.

Aceves probably doesn’t provide the best opportunity to get a starter deep into the game, but the Sox will take whatever innings they can get when he faces former Sox pitcher and known PED sampler Bartolo Colon. Comment away.

  • If Gameday is to be believed, that was an extraordinarily bad inning for Aceves. Beyond giving up 6 runs (the final one on a Middlebrooks error), he walked three guys, made an error of his own, and balked…twice.

Mortensen and Aceves are probably going bye-bye when other arms (Breslow, Morales) are ready to go. Miller should be thanking Aceves for that inning, as the competition was close between them up to this point.

  • That was a horrible showing, to say the least.

  • At least bad pitching and bad hitting showed up on the same day. Now hopefully Lester can right the ship.
