Now Hitting for YF: Emma Span

Times are tough in Yankeeland, so this YF is turning tail and skipping town. Well, that’s not quite accurate. We are bold in the face of adversity, dammit. Nevertheless, we will be gone for the next few weeks, galavanting about hither and tither—duty calls—as our Bombers attempt to right their ship. They’ll have to do that against the rival Mets and Sox, among others, but Roger Clemens should arrive to lend a hand. In any case, you, dear readers, should fear not at all. You have not been abandoned. Pinching for yours truly will be Emma Span, whom you surely know from her Eephus Pitch blog and as a contributor to the redoubtable Bronx Banter. Did you say Pipped? I would be alarmed at the possibility, to be sure, but for the knowledge that The Devine Ms. Span already has so much on her plate—including a forthcoming book on the events of this baseball season in NY—and that her time slumming it here is already an imposition. Clearly, we all at YFSF are thrilled to welcome her to our little corner of cyberspace, and we hope you will joing us in laying out the red carpet. Okay. We have a distinguished guest. So that means you kids better be on your best behavior. If not, I’ll hear about it when I get back. So be good, and for the love of the sweet lord could we please cut that damn lead in half while I’m gone?

Emma, welcome, I look forward to your contributions, even though I’m a SF.

  • Ya. A sweep over the Mets (who scored 5 in the 9th to come back and win over the Cubs) and the Sox (best record in the league, give or take a game, too sad to look this up) would go a long way. Or, we can just roll over and die.
