Ode on a Managerial Turn

Something poetic got into me at lunchtime today, so I offer up my first (maybe last, in fact) Red Sox haikus.

tito at the helm
decisions made in haste
again disaster

sacrifice, never
sabermetrician? hell no
james curses the man

windmills signal go
runners barrel toward the dish
stop them, death at home!

and lastly,

once proud achilles
now off to senior circuit
stretched thin on wife’s work

(edit: found this poetic site, red sox haiku)

  • There once was a man from the Fens
Who had trouble working his pen
    He thought of the bunt
    As a ridiculous stunt
And soon his tenure will end?

  • Red Sox are red
    Yankees are blue
    I’d rather hit away
Than bunt a runner to 2
