I think they should have two awards: Player of the Year, for one, to go the “best player”, and the MVP, for two, to go to the player judged most important to his team’s success. In that case, A-Rod wins the first hands down, and the MVP vote gets really interesting. As it is, we’re potentially stuck with a great player, A-Rod, winning an award that rewards value when he actually adds none.
