On the Right (Left?) Team

Red Sox principal owner John Henry and general manager Theo Epstein, who both supported Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, will be there.

The Sox visit the White House today, and we all know that players veer towards the right-wing of things, Carlos Delgado excluded.  It seems that a blind devotion to a baseball-series determing God (hi Trot!) along with a brain that has spent two decades training athletically as opposed to reading (Hello Mr. Damon!) tends to be a debilitating mixture, but at least two of our best and brightest know which way is up in this reality-based world of ours.  No presidential pardons required in Beantown.

  • Maybe we’re just crazy idealists, but we’re all for the tradition of baseball champs visiting the White House. It just feels right, regardless of how one feels about the particular office-holder. We’re all part of one big happy American (and Dominican and Venezuelan and Canadian and Korean) family.

  • Interesting though, that John Henry was sick and Senator Kerry was “on his way”…
