Only One Idea? Then It Is The Worst Idea

At first base, Derrek Lee? I suppose. He was a fun player to watch and played a great first base. Huge fan when he was a Cubbie. It’s hard to believe there isn’t an option somewhere out there that is somewhat more .. un-retired. Maybe this is a genius move by Cashman. Maybe he is bent from the Oxy for his gelatinized leg. It feels like the Yankees are browsing that wire rack at the back of the supermarket where they clear out the dented boxes of dry goods and nearly remaindered bread.

  • I’ll say this: Derrek Lee is a great guy. And he certainly WAS a really good player. Good bat, good glvoe, good teammate.
Perhaps a couple of years off to recuperate have been helpful?
    Then again …
If I was a NYY fan, no way is this acceptable. Might as well go get Tony Clark.

  • I read Scott Rolen was mentioned as an idea. No word about Chris Chambliss.

  • or tino or giambi…i’m not sure if cashman is half joking with some of these “suggestions”, but how embarrassing if it’s come down to this…somewhere in goodyear, az nick swisher is doing some kind of celebratory dance

  • We will not miss Swisher. Forget that dude. We’ll still be better than the Indians. Fact.
