Pavano < DL

Joe Torre just casually mentioned to Mike and the Mad Dog that Carl Pavano is a scratch for his next start which was scheduled for Saturday. He has some kind of arm tenderness, some deal with a muscle pull in his right arm. But not to worry! Joe believes he’ll be ready to make the start on Tuesday against the Indians.

And so it begins.

  • Pavano hasn’t worked in nearly two years. Having his arm hurt somewhat shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. He pitched longer than any of the other starters. I hope he will be fine next week. We need starters

  • technically, right now, Im more concerned on whether this injury will lead to the DL. Though it is obviously expected his arm SHOULD hurt after throwing a lot since about 2 years ago

  • Say it ain’t so, Joe.
But YF’s probably right. Assuming he continues for the season, there will probably come a time when he gets “tired arm,” as all pitchers do at some point after rotator cuff surgery.

  • “arm tenderness” or “some sort of muscle pull” are not the descriptions of tired arm. It’s true that he hasn’t pitched in a while, but being hurt after just two starts isn’t what (as YF says) should be expected.
