Player Has 19. HIT ME! Yanks/Halos Gamer I

I rolled back into Portland from my very entertaining trip to Seattle and I’m exhausted. I can only imagine how the Yankees feel, as they play number 19 out of their 21 games in 20 days marathon. I will have a write-up on the festivities at Safeco complete with plenty of images after I have a chance to regroup and get everything together.

Unlike me, there is no rest for the weary New York Yankees. Jaret Wright’s last two appearances have been in short relief, and his last start was a miserable outing in Baltimore. New York beat John Lackey when they last met. This is your place to comment on tonight’s game as New York looks to shake off their disappointing turn in the Emerald City.

  • Jaret Wright is going for the ‘stache look as well.

  • Figgins k’s.
Wright in early trouble as he gives up back to back singles to Izturis and Vlad. He then strikes out Anderson.

  • Wright walks Rivera to load ’em for Kendrick.

  • Generous strike on the corner, then a pitch away. The 1-1 is jammed in on the hands and fouled up third. The 1-2 is fouled back. Kendrick pops out to right on the next pitch to end the threat.

  • Giambi reaches on a questionable play at first ruled a throwing error on Aybar.

  • ARod k’s looking at a pitch at the knees. Robi lines it hard to third. The throw to Kennedy gets Giambi, but he botches the transfer and there is no DP. Should be ruled and E.

  • Jorge hits a hard comebacker off of Lackey’s glove. Kennedy can’t recover. First and second, two out to Melky.

  • Gueil up. He lines a 1-1 to left, where Rivera makes the grab to end the inning. Sloppy ball but no runs scored.

  • Scoring on Robi’s AB was a FC, no error.

  • Kennedy behind 0-2 from foul balls, then works the count to 2-2. He ropes a pitch to center; Johnny dives for it, but misses the ball and it rolls behind him to allow Kennedy a stand-up triple. Unfortunate.

  • A ground rule double right on the third base line by Molina scores Kennedy. If Damon had not tried for the diving grab, it would be second-third with no outs.

  • Aybar is behind in the count 1-2, and Wright throws balls to make it full. Hard shot to Jeter. He throws to third and gets Molina. Heads-up play by the Captain.

  • Figgins singles to left. Wright is not looking sharp right now.

  • Wright gets ahead of Izturis 0-2, then misses in and low. The 1-2 is a strike on the inside corner. Good pitch. Two away.

  • Vlad takes a monster cut at a breaking pitch to fall behind 0-1. The next pitch is fouled back off the end of the bat. The 0-2 is way outside, in the dirt. Posada makes a good stop.

    attackgerbil August 25, 2006, 10:51 pm
  • Wright tries to climb the ladder but almost throws it to the backstop as Jorge has to make a high grab. The 2-2 is lined to the wall in left center for a double that scores two runs.
Posada set up away and low, but Wright fed Vlad a meatball right down the middle. Ugh.

  • Wright is ahead 0-2 again on foul balls. Anderson then flies out to right to end the inning. Halos 3, Yanks 0.

  • Melky singles to start things off for the Yankee third, then Damon pops out to short.

    attackgerbil August 25, 2006, 10:57 pm
  • Jeter ks on a pitch on the corner. Looked a bit inside. He’s not happy. Abreu up.

    attackgerbil August 25, 2006, 11:00 pm
  • Abreu singles to right field on a pitch on the inside corner to advance Melky to third.

    attackgerbil August 25, 2006, 11:02 pm
  • Jason up. First and third, two away. Kennedy playing in the rover position. Kennedy makes a great sliding catch in foul territory to end the inning.

    attackgerbil August 25, 2006, 11:05 pm
  • Wright walks Rivera to lead off the Angels 3rd.
Robinson Cano makes an amazing grab and tag to get Rivera trying to steal on a high throw from Jorge. Very close, but Cano got him. Great play.

  • Kendrick Ks.
    Kennedy doubles to center.

    attackgerbil August 25, 2006, 11:12 pm

Molina pops out to right to end the inning.

  • MLB’s a bunch of hoseheads. I just paid $129 for HALF a season of MLB tv and today they’re not broadcasting the Yanks, even though Fox won’t show it where I live.
