Please Stop Sucking: Yanks-Sox Gamer II

The Red Sox, losers of 6 of their last 8, are floundering when they should be flying…and today they have to face Kuroda. F*ck.

But Lackey is a pretty good pitcher this season too. I’ll be at a wedding, but hopefully the Sox will be ringing some bells too. Comment away.

  • 1-2-3 inning for Lackey in the third after he allowed four baserunners in the second, but escaped without a run. Unfortunately Kuroda seems to be on his game as well.

  • Lackey keeps alternating good and bad innings but gets out of the fourth unharmed.

  • Runners on first and third, no outs. How will we not get a run home this time?

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 5:20 pm
  • Wow, Overbay does not throw home to get Papi, makes a bad throw to second and everybody’s safe. 1-0 Sox.

  • And now a successful double steal, though Carp actually was out at second. Take that, A-Rod.

  • Out at third, I meant.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 5:30 pm
  • Middlebrooks bounced one through the middle and the Sox lead 2-0.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 5:34 pm
  • Ellsbury drives in Drew. Overbay’s mistake looming larger and larger. And the blown call as well, of course.

  • Victorino grounds out. 3-0 Sox after four. And Kuroda now has thrown 77 pitches.

  • Something makes be believe those three runs will not be enough …

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 5:42 pm
  • This should be one of Lackey’s good innings. But he has runners on second and third with not outs immediately.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 5:44 pm
  • Yankees get one run back. Could have been worse.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 5:51 pm
  • And now they allow Kuroda an easy inning, WTF.

  • Sox retire Soriano for the first time today. Good that they always had him come up leading off the inning. And also that he was sloppy on the bases.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:01 pm
  • Pedroia playing a mean second base again today. To be fair, Cano hasn’t been too shabby either.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:04 pm
  • Lackey goes 1-2-3 in the sixth. At 89 pitches he should be good for at least another one.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:06 pm
  • Soriano can’t play the wall. Second double for Nava.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:09 pm
  • Salty drives in Nava. 4-1.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:15 pm
  • Ellsbury, like Papi earlier, barely misses a home run. But his double brings home Salty and he goes to third on the throw. 5-1 Red Sox. Kuroda out.

  • Lackey walks Nunez, but Overbay grounds into a double play. He seems to remember his time with the Red Sox in spring training fondly.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:30 pm
  • Lackey hits Stewart. He’s been really wild this inning. Farrell rightly takes him out.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:32 pm
  • Lackey gets a standing ovation as he leaves. Who’d have thought that possible two years ago?

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:34 pm
  • Wells with an infield single off Breslow, but Ichiro grounds out to first. Six more outs to go.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:38 pm
  • Papi!! 6-1!!!

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:44 pm
  • That was crushed to center.

And Carp follows with a double into the left field corner.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:45 pm
  • McCarver talks about the big trade and can only remember Adrian Gonzalez and Nick Punto. Funny that. It’s not called the Nick Punto trade for nothing.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:46 pm
  • Nava walks and that’s it for Warren.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:47 pm
  • Actually Warren stays in the game.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:48 pm
  • … and gets out of the inning.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 6:50 pm
  • 1-2-3 eighth for Breslow and Tazawa.

The crowd was booing A-Rod relentlessly. Me, I’ll be glad as long as the Yankees have to pay him.

The Fox crew was talking about where Cano might sign and said he might consider the Dodgers a much more attractive destination than the “decaying” Yankees.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:07 pm
  • McCarver claims Tazawa and Uehara are almost interchangeable. I don’t think so.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:10 pm
  • Pedroia fouls one off his foot but stays in the game. But he’s hurting.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:16 pm
  • Pedey does not come out to field in the top of the ninth. I’m worried.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:30 pm
  • Koji strikes out Granderson.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:30 pm
  • Koji strikes out Nunez.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:33 pm
  • Overbay doubles.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:34 pm
  • Stewart pops out. 6-1. No Boston massacre today. And I was wrong: the three runs from the 4th inning actually were enough.

pale blue eyes August 17, 2013, 7:36 pm
  • I just checked the updates on Extra Bases. Nick Cafardo, idiot that he is, seems to be totally oblivious that Pedrioa might have seriously hurt his foot. I know he finished the at bat but since he seems to play through everything this does not mean he’s not injured.
