Preemptive Strike

We may be away from our trusty keyboard as Game 1 begins this evening—we’ll be watching, fear not—and so we’re going to put this up now so you, Dear Readers, can commence commentating with Boomer’s first pitch (if not before.) In other words, consider this your open thread for all tonight’s action. Go Yanks.

  • Putting on an extra man for Manny? Not a good idea. Better off with poison choice uno, with only one man on. Asking for a big inning.

  • John YF has to be getting angrier and angrier by the day. With each Boomer start, his prediction gets worse and worse.

  • White Sox win! Increasing the odds the Yanks and Sox get to do this all over again in about ten days….

  • SF: Too much info.

    YF September 30, 2005, 11:31 pm
  • Sorry, YF. I know the standings hurt, so sorry about the reference. Or were you talking about something else?

  • No Brad-SF, because I’m not a Sox fan. I love baseball and the Yankees, but it’s not my life.
Gee, SF is back and so is Brad SF. Sox Fan in VT must be next.

  • Hey John– You post up here as much as any Sox fan, and you’re able to keep track of how much the rest of us post. And you’re calling Sox fans obsessive? At least I’ll admit that my life is high school and the Red Sox. Don’t you have a job or something. I have time to post because I’m not legally old enough to work for another seven and a half months– what’s your excuse? I’m really curious.

  • Laura! Not good! Harvard’s gonna wanna see some serous extracurriculars on that HS transcript. SF’s letter of recommendation is only gonna go so far.
    Get out there!

  • YF–
I’m goin to Northeastern or BU. Or maybe Emerson. I haven’t decided yet. My 4.3 GPA can get me there. I’m not really worried. I’m still stuck in high school for two and a half years. Plus I’m part of the best band program in RI, possibly all of New England. So I’ll be fine. Harvard is way to prestigious for me. The Ivy Leagues scare me. Just a little bit. And for a future member of the Boston sports media (that would be me) the ivy league isn’t really the place, don’t you think?

  • 4.3! In our day, the max was 4.0. But with a number like that, and with your super-duper band experience, you should be shooting for the top! Harvard should be afraid of you! Or Brown if you wanna stay close to home. (Not that there’s anything wrong with NE, BU, AND E—all fine institutions.)
    It’s good to be young.

  • 4.33 is staright A+’s. Honors classes, of which I am a member of several, are weighted a point. A B+ counts as an A+, etc. And so you see, YF, I can eassily waste time when I should be doing research for that history paper that I have yet to start commenting on your site. Although I really should be doing that paper. Homework sucks, along with Fox. Not quite as much though.

  • And I’m still waiting for John;s answer to my question.
