I don’t like raisins. Never have. The Coen brothers’ classic gives me a wedge to try to find some levity what with those D-Backs coming to town, but each joke plays back as soggy and unsavory as the bran cereal dotted with those atrocious once-were-fruit nuggets.
My long memory of Luis Gonzalez’ bloop in the deciding game of the 2001 series has been played out too many times to try to poke any more fun, all things considered. Suffice it to say that there are only a few players on the DBacks that were involved in baseball *at all* during that series, and none with those DBacks of yore. No Yankee scheduled on the field today was party to that game, though there is a rumor that Mariano Rivera may pitch today, and all players will wear 42 in honor of Jack Roosevelt Robinson. This is worth watching. We will see a couple old Yankee friends over in the visitor’s dugout — Wil Nieves, Eric Chavez, Ian Kennedy, Erik Hinske if my memory serves. Brandon McCarthy is on the mound for the Senior Circuit visitors, with Ivan Nova hoping to get something, anything, going tonight for the Bronx on the bump.
Enjoy the game. The Yankees will play Sweet Caroline as a tribute to Boston in the middle of the third. I’ll sing along, this time.

Just hoping Nova can keep it together a little bit longer.
Prado down swinging ends the top of the fourth. Yankees are definitely in this.
Back to back singles from Overbay and Stewart.. here we go.
Gardner down swinging. Cano up with one away. I can’t bear to watch.
I hope you were watching, gerb. (Cano go-ahead 3-run shot.)
I was pulled away just prior to the homer..
Ah well.
I am too young to have watched Mickey Mantle or Joe DiMaggio. I loved watching Don Mattingly hit. And I love watching Derek Jeter hit. And I love watching Ichiro end his sterling career in the Bronx. Having said all that, I’m not sure I’ve ever watched a Yankee in his prime who was a better pure hitter than Robinson Cano. His balanced, powerful, seemingly effortless swing – and the damage it wreaks – is just a thing of beauty.
IH is back!!!!
…and so am I ag. Thanks homeslice!
All well IH?
All good krueg. Am in a v busy stretch and may not be around much this year. We are selling our house (just accepted a bid yesterday); moving to Germany in August (so are now looking for a place to live there); making a job transition; and trying to pull off one of the bigger deals I’ve ever been involved with on the work-front. So things are great, but I just haven’t watched or even listened on the radio to a single game end-to-end this year — I’m just catching highlights. Always good to see you here though man…
sorry about locking you out, bro.
We’ve put some new anti spam filtering on the server because of all the bot registrations/attacks. it sometimes bites the hand that feeds.
Woah. And I thought my life was chaos at this point IH.
Don’t fret. Your YFSF brothers will cheer for you!
I didn’t get the job, what else is new? My wife though has got an interview at Penn in a few weeks so we might be going to Philly now. I still hope we can go to a game together someday IH! Although, I will in Germany in August so maybe a soccer game???
Aw, that bites, krueg. Hope the next goes better and that your wife’s interview goes well.
IH: dang, that’s…that’s a lot of life comin’ atcha. Good luck!
Thanks D. What can I say, it’s beyond me dude.
She has an interview in Jupiter, FL now too…maybe back to FL we go? I could see my Fins…that would be cool.
I’m really sorry to hear that krueg. I hope something pans out soon. A game together would be great — catching Nats-Cubs in DC on May 10 and will be moving there (to DC) after the year in Germany. Hope to catch many Yanks games at Camden Yards…
