Righted Randy: Yanks-O’s Gamer II

I’m now returned from my promotional peregrinations (on which a final not soon), and hoping that Randy, too, is back to his usual randiness. His last start, in Detroit, indicated he just might be. Was that a fluke—the product of a big ballpark and a light-hitting opponent? We’ll see today. Comment here.

  • Good: TLong not in lineup.
    Bad: Alex not in lineup.

  • Good: Kevin Thompson in lineup.
Bad: Jason Giambi not in lineup.

  • Rasner is also on the DL. Matt Smith is back up.

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 4:28 pm
  • This is unreal.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 4:30 pm
Come on – the 511th guy in the depth chart gets hurt and we get this kind of melodrama from you cats? Let’s not overplay this, guys.
(and if Dave Pauley gets hurt and I start moaning and whining I expect you all to call me on that, FYI)

    SF June 3, 2006, 4:36 pm
  • And just remember…it’s the Orioles.

    SF June 3, 2006, 4:37 pm
  • Beaut of a bunt from JD.

    YF June 3, 2006, 4:40 pm
  • SF: No Rasner means more Erickson. Plus, the kid has some potential, so not being able to see him pitch sucks. It wasn’t a complaint (by me), just an observation. Matt Smith is fine by me.
Plus, you’re just jealous because we have Melky and you don’t.

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 4:41 pm
  • Yes, but we have WILLIE HARRIS!! Oh, SNAP!!

    SF June 3, 2006, 4:46 pm
  • So, how did Rasner end up on DL? He ONLY PITCHED 1.2 INNINGS!!!

    Anonymous June 3, 2006, 4:47 pm
  • Oof, horrid fielding out there in left. That was one of the slower jumps ever.

    SF June 3, 2006, 4:48 pm
  • Did SF just call us all cats? He’s been watching too many Rasheed Wallace interviews. Next he’ll be guaranteeing Sox victories.
The O’s don’t look interested in the field today.
Did anyone else notice that Andy Phillips is hitting well? I saw an improvement, but .526?

    Sam June 3, 2006, 4:49 pm
  • Berns hittin’ 5th! Just like old times. We’ll take the run, anyways. Hoot.

    YF June 3, 2006, 4:52 pm
  • Time to change the title of this thread, YF. Back to the old (new) Unit. The one that sucks hard.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 5:00 pm
  • Barf. Those walks really do come back to haunt you, don’t they…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:01 pm
  • Man, as soon as Hernandez hit that, my baby daughter started laughing out loud at her papa. Three-and-a-half-months-old and she’s already giving me the needles.
Those teenage years are gonna be tough. Phil Hughes is my only hope. I hope he’s on his 9th Cy in 2020.

    YF June 3, 2006, 5:04 pm
  • YF, it’s uncanny how babies can see right to the heart of the matter, isn’t it.
Kay says Giambi got stomach flu (probably from Alex). That’s just what this team needs, a plague epidemic to sweep through. Really, every time you think they hit rock bottom, something else strikes.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:08 pm
  • Welcome to the bigs, KT, now sit down.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:10 pm
  • Nice clean inning for RJ. Let’s score some runs!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:15 pm
  • Damon walks to lead off the 3rd. Melky up.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:19 pm
  • Where can I get a Got Melky shirt??

    Sam June 3, 2006, 5:19 pm
  • At the Stadium, I’d guess.
Melky grounds to Mora, who throws to Roberts for the out, Melky safe on FC. Jeter up.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:21 pm
  • Jeter hits a single to right on a 2-2 pitch, Cabrera to 3rd.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:24 pm
  • Ouch. just finished work and opened the browser to see the score. I want to edit my top-five worst list. RJ to the top, with a bullet.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:24 pm
  • Posada gets plunked on the knee, bases loaded with 1 out for Bernie.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:25 pm
  • Bernie grounds weakly to 2nd, they can’t turn the DP, Cabrera scores, DJ to 3rd. 3-2 O’s.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:28 pm
  • Phillips flies out to end it…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:29 pm
  • Another 1,2,3 for RJ. Looks like he’s settled in….

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:34 pm
  • Great 2nd AB for KT who walks on the 10th pitch. Damon hits into a DP to end the inninig.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:45 pm
  • YM: are you watching the live game? Rupert Murdoch has me blacked out on the west coast. Grr.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:47 pm
  • Randy has bought into the Corey Patterson timeshare (2Ks in 2 ABs).

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:50 pm
  • That’s the Corey I know and love from watching so many Cubs games.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:50 pm
  • Nope, I’m watching (I’m in NYC, no blackouts here!).

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:50 pm
  • Heading to 5; time to get my Melk on.
    Oof. That sounds wrong.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:52 pm
  • I was tempted to buy MLB tv just for the Fox blackouts.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:53 pm
  • haha
they were talking about Got Melky Tshirts before…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:53 pm
  • Nice, Melky.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:54 pm
  • Ooooh Melky has a Jeter-like single!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:54 pm
  • MVJ ties it!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:54 pm
  • One of the companies in my corporation is an ad/printing company. I think I might run with that idea.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:55 pm
  • Let me clarify.. the corporation for which I work. It’s not mine, per se.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:56 pm
  • Apparently those Tshirts are very popular. If I go to a game I might just pick one up.
    MVJ steals 2nd.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:56 pm
  • Oops. Steals 3rd, I meant

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 5:57 pm
  • Oh, they already exist? okay. I want one.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:58 pm
  • Was there a close throw on the steal?

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 5:59 pm
  • Nope. They’ve been running on Loewen all game long. 3/4 so far, I believe.
Posada walks, Bernie hits a sac fly deep to left, DJ scores. 4-3 NYY.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:01 pm
  • Bernie! Takes the lead. Credit aggressive running by Jeter.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:02 pm
  • New number five on my worst list: evil genius tycoon Rupert Murdoch blacking out games on Saturdays.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:04 pm
  • Murdoch is just evil, period. Why is it blacked out?!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:05 pm
  • Hmm. Yankees’ spring training-ish lineup is up on the O’s. Does that say more about the Yanks or the O’s?

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:07 pm
  • Murdoch owns DirecTV. They black out everything except for the Saturday Fox game of the week, so you can’t see any game on DTV except the Fox broadcast game.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:08 pm
  • Oh, and Murdoch owns Fox, but everyone probably knew that.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:08 pm
  • Last year, they blacked out all of the late games too, and the Sunday early games as well I think. At least they don’t do that anymore.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:10 pm
  • Good question YM. Probably more about getting guys healthy for the Boston series.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:13 pm
  • RJ is rolling now.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:14 pm
  • That sucks :( I didn’t know he owned DTV.
Another good inning for RJ. He’s only allowed 1 baserunner after the 1st inning so far. Maybe he should just start games in the 2nd inning, considering how bad he is to start the game.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:15 pm
  • I don’t think it’s an option to get guys healthy though. Giambi and Arod are out with some stomach ailment, and we know about Sheff and Matsui. I guess what I meant is that O’s are really really bad, if they can’t beat a Yankee spring-training lineup. However, there are still 4 innings to go.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:17 pm
  • I’m following via gamecast out here in CA because it’s the only way, so if someone can answer this question I’d appreciate it. Is RJ looking effective? He really seems to be cruising since that early 3 run inning. It’s hard to really guage how a guy is pitching from F’ing gamecast.

    bloodyank78 June 3, 2006, 6:17 pm
  • KT!!! First major-league hit (an infield single). Congrats kid!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:19 pm
  • BY78, he’s looking great. 6Ks so far.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:21 pm
  • BY78: RJ is missing spots, but he’s not looking too bad (compared to the 1st). His stuff doesn’t look too terrible, but his location is off on some pitches.

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 6:22 pm
  • Damon with a single, steals 2nd easily. Yanks 3/4 today.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:22 pm
  • YM: what you say makes sense regarding the lineup decision.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:22 pm
  • Melky flies out.
    DJ gets IBB.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:23 pm
  • Was that fly to right too short to tag, or is KT slow, or both?

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:24 pm
  • Thanks guys, come on Jorgie, make’m pay!

    bloodyank78 June 3, 2006, 6:24 pm
  • How many times in his career has Posada batted clean-up?

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:25 pm
  • It wasn’t really a fly, more like a pop-up to shallow right. He couldn’ve scored on that.
Posada grounds out to first for the 3rd out, bases left loaded.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:25 pm
  • Fly ball to really shallow right, too short for even Ricky Henderson to tag.

    Bozo June 3, 2006, 6:26 pm
  • Randy Ks More for the 1st out (K #7), then catches Tejada’s grounder for out 2.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:29 pm
  • *Mora

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:30 pm
  • Randy pitches around Hernandez with 2 outs. Probably not a bad idea considering he’s been hitting well.
    Hernandez steals (!!!!!) 2nd.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:32 pm
  • Lopez grounds out to DJ, end of inning.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:33 pm
  • Please forward this to Torre: Dear Joe, pitch Randy into the 8th, then let Villone close out. Your other guys really, really need a break.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 6:33 pm
  • Sam, I hope so. RJ needs a quick 7th though, he’s 90 pitches so far.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:35 pm
  • Credit Joe with resisting temptation to put TLong in the lineup after Giambi got scratched. Maybe there’s still hope for him.
Bernie flies out to right for out 1.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:37 pm
  • AP!!!
    HR to deep left.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:38 pm
  • ANDY!!!

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:38 pm
  • Andy continues his reign of terror. Woot!
    Cano singles to left.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:39 pm
  • ANDY SHOWIN SOME POWER! It’s so great when guys step up and perform when other guys are out, ie Giambi and Arod. Phillips is finally showing everyone what a slugger he really is.

    bloodyank78 June 3, 2006, 6:40 pm
  • Like YF said yesterday, “You can only hope to contain him. And not much hope at that.” Heheh.
Now Cano with a single? A run or two more, and maybe Joe will let RJ finish this himself?

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:41 pm
  • I doubt it unless he has a couple of 5 pitch innings – his pitch count is rather high.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:42 pm
  • Miggy singles, Cano to 2nd. 2 on for KT.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:43 pm
  • Miggy! Keep it rolling, boys.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:44 pm
  • This is great: watching these young guys growing before our eyes. It’s not the Steinbrenner way, but I’m really glad that it’s becoming the Yankee way.
As for Unit: guys, the man’s a horse, and even though he’s not a young man any more, he can go for 110 pitches. A quick 7th and the 8th is all his. Fingers crossed…

    Sam June 3, 2006, 6:46 pm
  • GameCast is in the crapper for me right now. Gah.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:47 pm
  • Kay just said that Proctor is the closer for today. WTF? Proctor is up the top in the league in pitches thrown for relivers.
PS – another WTF – wtf has happened to Tejada? This guy used to be the best SS in the AL, and today he just doesn’t look like he cares. He hasn’t been the same since Raffy blamed him for his positive drug test.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 6:47 pm
  • KT flies out, Damon grounds to short, Tejada flips to Roberts for the force, they drop the ball. Bases loaded.
    O’s defense has been atrocious.
    Melky grounds out.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:48 pm
  • Tejada was 3-4 last night.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:48 pm
  • Patterson flies out to Damon for out 1. Corey timeshare continues to flourish :D

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:52 pm
  • Conine flies out to KT for out 2.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:54 pm
  • AG – no comment on Miggy’s offence; I’m talking about his effort in the field.
Unit pitches a quick 7th. Should have enough for the 8th, no?

    Sam June 3, 2006, 6:55 pm
  • Matos Ks for out 3. K #8 for RJ. I’m guessing he’ll at least start the 8th.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:56 pm
  • CUBS WIN!! Sorry. Couldn’t help myself, since that’s the only baseball Murdoch will let me watch. Pujols pulled mid-game with a strained oblique.. didn’t specify inferior or superior. Obligatory Homer Simpson quote: “Did you say ANterior? Dohhhh!”

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:56 pm
  • LOL! Evidently Cards is the only team Cubs can beat. Go figure.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:57 pm
  • Sam, I don’t think I ever would have considered Tejada the best defensive short in the AL. Decent, yes, but Vizquel was on another planet as far as defenders go.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 6:58 pm
  • So this may not be the RJ of yore, but this is a pretty good deal. We’ll take this right?

    YF June 3, 2006, 6:59 pm
  • Absolutely. Especially if he does this against Sox next week.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 6:59 pm
  • Ugh. Jeter grounds to Conine who throws the ball away. This is painful to watch…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:00 pm
  • Cub castoff Hawkins in for Baltimore. More defensive woes for Baltimore.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:00 pm
  • Jorgie strikes out, DJ thrown out stealing. 2 out.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:03 pm
  • Posada didn’t swing on the hit and run??

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:04 pm
  • He did swing. Unfortunately he swung right through it.
Bernie grounds out to Conine who makes a nice play. End top 8th.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:06 pm
  • Check that, I think he checked his swing or something.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:07 pm
  • Sad day for sports viewing at the pub. We have: the Lady Vols playing softball, Horse racing from Emerald Downs, women’s track, the effing golf channel, and a fricking Cheers rerun. Thank god the Red Sox/Tigers and White Sox/Texas games just started. I was about to stab my eyes with a cocktail stick.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:09 pm
  • Rogers grounds out to short. 1 Out.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:09 pm
  • Gerbil, you don’t want to watch softball? What’s the matter with you?!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:11 pm
  • Heheh YM: I do want to watch softball, but only in a keg league when I am outside fanning at slow pitches and getting mocked by my teammates.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:13 pm
  • Randy walks Roberts on 6 pitches and he’s pulled for Proctor. Oddly, gets a standing O from the fans.
I’m sceptical about Joe’s move, but RJ was getting up there in the pitch count and he IS 42+…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:13 pm
  • Roberts walks. He can steal. Hope they don’t give him the chance.
Crap. Sox/Tigers is on a delay.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:15 pm
  • Yeah, RJ had thrown 114 pitches. taking him now was a good call.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 7:15 pm
  • GameChannel is at least two minutes behind real time. Driving me nuts.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:16 pm
  • Mora flies out for out 2.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:17 pm
  • Right now the Sox’ delay is being consumed by NESN’s version of “the Sports Reporters”, one of whom is Dan Shaughnessy. This makes the show damn near unwatchable. And the host, Bob Neumeier, just posed the question “can Kevin Youkilis stay on top of the batting order” and answered his own question with an immediate “yes”. Clearly Neumie doesn’t pay any attention to Francona’s patterns at all.

    SF June 3, 2006, 7:17 pm
  • Roberts steals, no chance for Jorge to throw him out.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:18 pm
  • Roberts steals, no chance for Jorge to throw him out.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:18 pm
  • Crap. Tejada doubles in Roberts on a hanging curve(?).

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:19 pm
  • Looks like Tejada is going to stick in our craw this series.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:19 pm
  • Once again, the bullpen threatens to screw things up. Third time in three days. Sigh.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 7:20 pm
  • Hernandez swings on 0-2 but ump calls check swing. Of course he doubles on the next pitch. Tie game.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:21 pm
  • Fortunately, the volume is off and I only have to look at Shaughnessy, not hear him.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:21 pm
  • Crap!

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:22 pm
  • Even looking at Shaughnessy is bad enough.
Lopez strikes out. No win for Randy :(

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:24 pm
  • YM, did Hernandez come around on that 0-2? I assume the appeal was made to first?

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:24 pm
  • Randy pitched a fine game after the first. Too bad.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:25 pm
  • Yanks got jobbed on a bad checked swing call. That should have been the 3rd out. Ah well. They DID leave an army on base today, if not for that it wouldn’ve been an issue…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:25 pm
  • AG – hard to say, but it looked like he swung around. Should have been called out.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 7:26 pm
  • Philips, Cano, Cairo up to play the hero.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:26 pm
  • He went around, you could see clearly on the replay. First base ump said he didn’t go on appeal. Stupid ump :-/ But like I said if not for that LOB, we wouldn’t be talking about it.
Phillips statuesque on strike 3. CM Wang (!!!) is throwing in the pen.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:27 pm
  • Wang? *boggle*

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:28 pm
  • Cano singles. Let’s bring ‘im in, boys!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:28 pm
  • Cano! Robbie, you and Melky make me proud.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:29 pm
  • Cairo flies out to right for out 2. KT has a chance to be the hero.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:31 pm
  • Nope, flyout to right.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:32 pm
  • Damn. KT out to right. It is just *killing* me that I have to watch this game in abstract.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:33 pm
  • Grrr. Patterson leads off with a single. Clearly Proctor is not in on the timeshare.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:35 pm
  • I guess Proctor doesn’t want in on the Patterson time-share.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:36 pm
  • Hah. Great minds…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:36 pm
  • Top of the order up for the Yanks if we make it that far.
Conine bunts straight up in the air, 1 out.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:38 pm
  • Proctor get the hell out of the way. Why did Joe leave him to pitch the 9th, anyway? He looked terrible in the 8th. It’s probably better that he screws up than someone like Matt Smith who will be doomed to the 19th spot in the bullpen if he gives up a single.

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 7:39 pm
  • And of course Patterson steals.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:41 pm
  • CAn’t Jorgie throw any base stealers out any more??

    Sam June 3, 2006, 7:41 pm
  • And Matos strikes out for out 2.
Markakis in to PH for Rogers.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:42 pm
  • I’m guessing Joe has no options tonight. He needs Proctor to work through this. Still wonder what would have happened if they let RJ finish.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:43 pm
  • I don’t think he could have, Gerbil. He was at 114 pitches already. You don’t want to go Curt Schilling on him and kill him for the rest of the season.
Proctor strikes out Markakis on a high fastball. Extra innings!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:47 pm
  • Wow, didn’t know RJ was at 114.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:49 pm
  • Johnny Damon!!!!!!

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:50 pm
  • Line drive HR to dead center to lead off.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:50 pm
  • Melky grounds out for out 1. Jeter with the count 1-2.

  • DJ gets rung up on a questionable strike 3.

  • Sorry about the double post.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:55 pm
  • Jorgie strikes out for out 3.
Funny moment: Proctor comes out to pitch the 10, Myers comes out to pitch the 10. Myers stays IN to pitch the 10th.
    Um, why?

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:57 pm
  • Myers to close.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:57 pm
  • A great catch by Cairo for the first out.
Wang is coming in. Yikes. Very odd.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:58 pm
  • CW Wang? What the hell?

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 7:58 pm
  • Kay was saying it’s his throwing day today. I guess he’ll have to do the throwing in the game…

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 7:59 pm
  • I thought for sure TLong was coming in to pitch…

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 7:59 pm
  • I wonder too. Myers, lefty specialist against switch-hitting Roberts, followed by righties Mora and Tejada. Hope this works.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 7:59 pm
  • I was trying to find splits for Roberts. Maybe he is worse from the right?
Wang gets a ground ball from Mora for out 2.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 8:01 pm
  • Leela: I can’t see. Are we boned?
    Bender: Yeah, we’re boned.

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 8:01 pm
  • Futurama quotes are worth extra points.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:03 pm
  • Torre just continues to baffle us

    Sam June 3, 2006, 8:03 pm
  • Count 2-2 on Tejada. He grounds a single to right. Eek.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 8:04 pm
  • Cmon, GameChannel. Make me happy.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:04 pm
  • Crap.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:04 pm
  • This is so nerve-wrecking.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 8:05 pm
  • Fahey runs for Tejada. Just let him have second and throw from the wind-up, Wang.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:05 pm
  • Ken Singleton keeps dropping stats which show how odd this decision is: Wang’s only ever had one relief appearance in his life, in Columbus two years ago.
Why could Myers throw only one pitch? Where’s Matt Smith? What about Villone?? Jesus.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 8:07 pm
  • 2-2 to Hernandez. Single just past Cano. Runners on 1st and 2nd.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 8:07 pm
  • #*(&@#($&

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:08 pm
  • Yeah, go talk to Wang. What do you say? “You’re doing your job kid, umm, keep getting groundballs. Maybe we can get to one of them!”

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 8:08 pm
  • And he gets Lopez to fly out (!!!) to save it. Go figure.
    Ballgame :D

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 8:09 pm
  • DYING here.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:09 pm
  • Yes, thank you YM. GameChannel was lagging badly and I had no idea what was happening. Hard to argue with results; good job, Joe.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:10 pm
  • See you all tomorrow. What a nail-biter.

    attackgerbil June 3, 2006, 8:11 pm
  • Whew. Good game, I wish it wasn’t quite so exciting. Glad Joe’s moves worked out. Maybe Wang can moonlight as closer from now on?
‘Twas fun, guys. See y’all tomorrow.

    yankeemonkey June 3, 2006, 8:11 pm
  • Last year, I remember Chacon coming in to relieve on a throwing day. He came in early in the game though, feasibly around the 6/7th inning. Weird to see CM Wang in there, but I guess Matt Smith is tired from going to Columbus in back every other night. Hopefully Moose will go for the save tomorrow night.

    RichYF June 3, 2006, 8:12 pm
  • It ain’t right, I tells ya.

    Sam June 3, 2006, 8:15 pm
  • And with Boston’s loss, Yanks are back in 1st. Woohoo, go team!
    Love the Baby Bombers :D
