Rocket’s Return Is Now Likely?

In a QA session on a blog at the Houston Chronicle Randy Hendricks said that he thinks it’s better than 50/50 that Roger Clemens will pitch next year, and “If he does play, it will only be for the Astros, Red Sox or Yankees.”

  • I hate this already. A bloggers, blog readers and blog commenters, I suggest we put a ban on all the silly Clemens circus of speculation.

  • It’s really nothing new. Everyone knows he’ll come back, and everyone knows it’ll be one of those three teams. The only difference is that it looks better for the Sox and Yanks this time around.
What I thought was interesting was the fact that the Sox had made a $52M offer to Andy Pettitte three years ago. Was I just sleeping, or is that new info.?

  • Paul – it’s certainly news to me. I’m glad he didn’t take it! =)
Ya, 10 million or so for 3 months of work. That’s the life!

  • The Sox-Pettitte thing is not news – it was reported that he turned down a good offer from the Sox, supposedly he didn’t want to offend Yankees fans by going to the Sox.

  • by “good” did you mean “better”, sf?… because i’d be surprised if he turned down a good [better] offer from the sox just to avoid upsetting the yf’s…i don’t think he’s that sensitive, or loyal…i did see a report that houston offered him considerably less than the yanks [it was referred to as the “home town” discount]…it looks to me like andy went for the money, and it was only convenient that it was to go back [to his other] home…

  • Hendricks says Houston offered considerably less money. I’m betting Pettitte said he rejected the Sox for that reason to make NY fans happy but really just wanted to go home.
