RSN’s A-Rod Problem Redux (It’s the Media’s Fault)

Because this story just won’t die….Murray Chass of the NYT weighs in today. His take: It’s not A-Rod, it’s not the Sox, and it ain’t RSN either. It’s the media, stupid! When all else fails, blame the fourth estate. Murray’s hot, too:

“Athletes have long accused reporters of creating stories, and, sadly, this is one of those instances. It has become one of the most distasteful instances I have witnessed in 45 years of covering baseball.” (Our italics)

Murray’s down in Ft. Myers. Could someone at Red Sox camp please by the poor man a drink? We’ll pay.

  • I posted this on another thread further down, but it might easily be missed, so – since it’s top post again – here’s more fuel for the fire:
//not that comments about A-Rod were unwelcome, just that it would be nice if we could have a similar response to more, shall we say, serious matters.//
Well, here’s one that’s sat idle for a few days (Going off the Rails), & not even a YF has spoken up. Here’s my theory – YFs realize that in regards to the steroids scandals, SFs have them beat. Is there anyone on the Sox squad involving suspicion of steroid use? I’m not saying we’re angels – I don’t know what goes on inside the club – but in the public eye, isn’t it the Yankroids that are more central to the steroid issue? Giambi, Sheff…no doubt I’m forgetting someone. Yes?
And as for the other threads garnishing more attention, YF made the original posts, so what’s the beef?
And I’ll add – this is the third thread about A-Fraud posted by YF. SF’s last 3 posts? (I’m ignoring Laugh Riot in this category): When to unveil RSN’s WS rings, Canseco’s latest belching, & a mention almost a week ago about Trot going off on A-Fraud (which only generated 1 comment, as opposed to the 30+ on the previous 2 on the subject). So in the last week, YF has posted 3 threads to SF’s 1 thread on the topic. I thought that interesting enough to point out.

  • Busted! What can we say? We quoth Emerson: “Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.”

  • Why does it matter if YF post’s the articles on the BoSox A-Rod obsession or if SF does? It’s still the sore winners over in Boston who can’t seem to manage zipping it, even for a single day.
I guess they want to get their shots in while they still have the tiniest thread of credibility due to their one World Series Championship in the last 86 years that they have to lean on. Which makes sense because for RSN it is all downhill from here.

  • Nice try porky. We can’t zip it, and yet you need to take a shot. Who can’t zip it? If you truly believe this is our only moment, then shut it & wait until play on the field shows otherwise. Aren’t many of you YFs telling us to enjoy our championship? We are! To the winners go the spoils, including bragging rights – and the right to bust on a sore loser ta’ boot. The arrogance is just dripping…..even when you’re not on top! Amazing!
