Seattle Blues: M’s-Yanks Gamer V

Jarrod Washburn was so bad (how bad was he?)  he managed a negative 1 game score in his last outing. Seriously. Of course, a line of 2.1 12 9 9 0 2 will do that to you. That was against Detroit, and this year the Yankees seem to have Seattle pitchers’ number to an even greater extent the Tigers.

So it’s the Yankees and the Mariners, who are trying very hard to redefine awful for us. Looks like an easy sweep in the offing as the Yanks send their ace to the hill. Comment away!

  • Hell of a game. Completely pathetic showing by the Seattle bullpen. Wow. I could not have managed that worse. How can you bring in Arthur Rhodes? And JJ Putz, wow.
Also, Ichiro has given up. He let Matsui go to second on a sac fly, and then he gave up on a ball that looked catchable, allowing the go-ahead run to score.
What an awful display of baseball by the Seattle Mariners.

  • I’m not going to lie – I gave up on the day.. because maybe we could “afford it” for the first time in awhile..
Mo saves the game, the Yanks sweep. Ya, the Putz was a bad move.. a 6 out save with a guy who just came back from the DL.. well, at least he didn’t have to pitch another inning..

  • Bringing in Putz wasn’t a bad move. Bringing in Rhodes was the bad move, and after what the Yankees have done to him over the course of his entire career, you could almost smell the comeback coming. Rhodes is like Byung-Hyun Kim.

  • Wow, can’t believe the Yanks game back. I watched the first 7 innings before turning to the Sox game, and I had assumed the M’s had it won. Damn, good game for the Yankees to win.

  • I don’t know, apparently they said that earlier this season, when he was coming back, that he will only throw one out saves – now we won’t know if they would’ve pulled Putz had it gone to the 9th, but definitely questionable, especially in a situation where you’re putting his arm at risk maybe in a lost season..
That said, no arguments that the Rhodes move was worse..

  • Strategy-wise, Rhodes was definitely bad. And strategy-wise, Putz probably wasn’t a bad move, but I was thinking meta-game anyhow..
    In any case, .500!
