It's a 1-0 game in the 7th as the Rays picked up a run but left the bases loaded as they head into the stretch and it just ticked past 10am my time. Who plays baseball this early? Patriot's Day has strange consequences. Comment away.

I went home for lunch and watched about an hour of the game, and Bard looked really sharp through the first few innings. It’s a good sign, despite his lack of gas in the 7th.
Good stuff from Thomas in the 8th.
Good call by Grady Valentine leaving in Thomas.
Crap. I love D-Mac. I’d love him more if he’d hit.
Melancon warming.
He needs to find his confidence. I think this guy has a lot of ability. Just needs confidence.
I really like Darnell too, I hope he can perform well now that he’ll be a regular starter for a while. He was solid when he got a lot of playing time in 2010.
Bottom of the 9th, at least we have the top of the lineup batting.
Hey, hey, hey! Matt Albers gets out of it.
I was shocked when Valentine gave the closer role to Aceves instead of Melancon, though Melancon sure hasn’t looked good so far this year. He’s got great numbers though, I can only imagine it will be a matter of time before he settles in.
Bottom 9.
Shields, who entered the inning at 107 pitches, stays in. Aviles leads off. Need a homer. Or a double.
Curveball, Slider, Changeup, Slider from Shields. Two sliders to Pedroia now, too. Lots of junk.
Aviles out, 6-3.
Let’s go Laser Show!
Wooooooooo a baserunner! AGonz and Ortiz up next, so a lefty reliever will surely be brought in. This is where having two power lefties hitting back-to-back in the lineup hurts.
Pedey walks.
Maddon elects not to go Grady, pulls Shields for Fernando Rodney.
Nevermind, Rodney (a righty) comes in to close it out. Couldn’t ask for a better matchup for a comeback.

Well he moved the runner over, at least. Good thing Pedey was running or that would have been the ballgame.
I don’t get the Mark Loretta reference?
IBB to Ortiz, of course. Cody Ross with a chance to be the hero.
C’mon, Papi. I’m channeling for you.

Loretta had a walkoff hit on Patriots Day back in 2006. I think it was a homer.
This strikezone to Ross is awful.
Unbelievable, all three strikes outside the zone, two not even close.
Obie, Castig said neither of the last two pitches were strikes.
The first strike was a foot off the plate, too.
Well, shit.
OK. Bruins tonight.
This loss is squarely on Valentine’s Brady-moment, with an assist to the home plate umpire in the 9th.
Well, the offense/Shields put in their contribution to this loss, too. Given the series, you had to like our chances tied in extras. Didn’t like Gonzo swinging at Ball 4 (and taking the bat out of Papi’s hands).
And it WAS a homer, IBM. Off “Everyday” Eddie Guardado, I believe.
GO CAPS!!!!
