Set That Date Aside!

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2007 MLB schedule is out. Mark these days on your calendar:

1. April 20: NYY at BOS 7:05
2. April 21: NYY at BOS TBA
3. April 22: NYY at BOS 2:05
4. April 27: BOS at NYY 7:05
5. April 28: BOS at NYY TBA
6. April 29: BOS at NYY TBA
7. May 21: BOS at NYY 7:05
8. May 22: BOS at NYY 7:05
9. May 23: BOS at NYY 7:05
10. June 1: NYY at BOS 7:05
11. June 2: NYY at BOS TBA
12. June 3: NYY at BOS 2:05
13. Aug. 28: BOS at NYY 7:05
14. Aug. 29: BOS at NYY 7:05
15. Aug. 30: BOS at NYY 1:05
16. Sept. 14: NYY at BOS 7:05
17. Sept. 15: NYY at BOS TBA
18. Sept. 16: NYY at BOS 2:05

The teams play 12 times by the beginning of June and then exist in parrallel universes until the end of August. Not really ideal. Yanked this from the LoHud Blog, and if it’s correct there is one less game than anticipated (I thought 19 was the new standard), with no 4-game sets. Curious.

  • neato. Two series straight in NY and no such love for the Sox. Why not have the number equal with one extra game in one place or another. Why should the Sox have to go into NY twice in a row?
    Okay, whine over.

  • Brad: The two series are separated by a month, so it’s not that big a deal. And the season series begins and, most crucially—potentially—ends in Beantown. So it seems fair, just oddly staggered.

  • yeah, I miscounted there. It’s not a big deal.

  • In other words: 18 games x 4 hours / (1 dose = 3 hours relief) x (1 dose = 2 tablets) = 48 rolaids tablets. Check. On the shopping list.

  • So I should schedule our summer trip to New England for June. Except that the money it would cost me to somehow land two tickets to a Yankee game at Fenway would make it impossible for us to travel to New England at all. Weeeeeeee…

  • Ummmm, the comment just made, plus the tagline connected to it, make me wonder if you are in the right place. And more importantly, where is it you are supposed to be and can I get in?

  • On the schedule: I do not like at all the heavy play in April and the dead months in the middle of the season. This has been the staple lately for these two teams and I just don’t find it as compelling as having the series more evenly distributd over the whole season. I also think the two-weekend-in-a-row series against any team is kind of dumb. Oh well.
Does the schedule show when and against whom the Yankees close out their last regular season in the stadium?

  • So at 5pm today ESPN Radio is doing a NY-Boston simulcast phone-in program to rile up the fans. I may have to tune in to hear some of the calls. I’ll put money on Vinny from the Bronx over Patty from Southie any day…

  • “So at 5pm today ESPN Radio…”
That sounds delightful. IH, what exactly are you putting your money on? Volume? Wit? F-bombs?

  • By the way, this schedule seems off.
Unless I am missing something, the April series in NY would take place Mon-Wed???
    And the May series Wed-Fri???
    And the August series Thurs-Sat???
I don’t think that can be correct.

  • It is a leap-year, I don’t know how that effects your calculations.

    Tyrel SF September 21, 2007, 3:52 pm
  • Also might be the fact that this is the 2007 season. You know, like what happened. Might affect your calculations..
