Slippery When Wang: Devil Rays – Yanks Gamer IV

Due to wet weather, Chien-Ming Wang was scratched from his start tonight.  Jeff Karstens will take the mound for New York.  Instead, we will see Wang tomorrow night against Boston.  Johnny Damon , Melky, and Bobby Abreu are also out of the lineup tonight.
James Shields is on the mound for Tampa Bay.

Assuming we can get this game in, Jeter will have the chance to continue to be up to something while we also get to witness an outfield of Aaron Guiel, Kevin Thompson and Bernie Williams, who is leading off for the Yankees as they attempt to sweep.  New York, a city home to the two teams with the best records in the Major Leagues.
Lineups follow.  Comment away.

  • just got out of class but the last time I was outside it was pouring. I doubt they get the game in. But maybe it’s better outside now. This is what happens when you’re holed up in academia. You lose touch with reality.

  • Tampa gets a run early on a triple from Baldelli and a ground out from Young. Then Crawford singles. Not a good start.

  • Jeter singles to right center in the bottom of the first.

  • Oh Captain, my Captain!
That was totally a Bernie triple. Blech. And, nice title, Gerb!

  • Nice quick inning for Karstens.
(Isn’t this gamer III? Although how long and boring these games have been, feels like they’ve been playing a lot more….)

  • Did anyone else hear Sterling call that shot “upper decky”? My God how corny!

    Andrews September 14, 2006, 7:39 pm
  • I avoid listening to Sterling whenever I can, so no, I didn’t. Thankfully :)

  • Ball game. 7-4 New York. Swept those Satan Fish.

  • Jeter goes 2-4 and raises his average to .346. Mauer is currently 0-3 in the Twins-Tribe game (Minnesota currently leads 5-4 top 8, Morneau up) which drops him to .345.

  • It is too early to start building a Rasner shrine?
(I guess he can share Melky’s for now…)

    yankeemonkey September 14, 2006, 10:28 pm
  • Mauer now 1-4 which puts him at .347

  • Rasner looked good. I like.
