    Rob SF April 10, 2010, 10:04 pm
  • Uh, I’m watching Sunday’s game. It’s 4-0 Sox after the top of the 1st! Anyone out there?

    Devine April 11, 2010, 2:30 pm
  • I am popping between the game and cleaning the deck

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 2:45 pm
  • Seems like Hermida is continuing to play well.
I see Bill Hall is playing short today.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 2:46 pm
  • Papi with bases loaded, 1 out.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 2:51 pm
  • Papi strikes out after a 8 pitch AB. had fallen behind 0-2 and kept fighting. Perhaps what he needed?

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 2:54 pm
  • Guillen takes Buchholz for ride to center.
    5-2

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:00 pm
  • I think Papi needed a hit. But I am of the give-him-time-party regardless.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:05 pm
  • Would be nice if Victor could throw out a base stealer on occasion.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:15 pm
  • Callaspo with a Sac Fly…
    5-3
I wish Papi would have had a hit there also, i do think it is insane to judge a guy’s worth 1 week into the season.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:18 pm
  • Butler with a single. Buch seems to be nibbling the edges

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:21 pm
  • Buchholz gets out of a jam. Callaspo was on third, Butler 2d. Get Guillen to ground out to the pitcher to end the threat.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:28 pm
  • Buch is not enjoyable to watch with runners on base.
And of course it’s way too early to judge Papi after one week.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:28 pm
  • I agree PBE, Buchholz tries to nibble the edges and finesse his way out of jams instead of just attacking the strike zone.
I am sure Papi is going to come out of his funk, I wonder how much of his success at times was hitting ahead of Manny. I know he can hit, but it has to help that there was a power hitter behind him.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:31 pm
  • Pedey with another dong!!

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:32 pm
  • Pedroia cranks out a homerun to left field!
    Third HR of the year.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:32 pm
  • V-Mart with a grd down the right field line.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:35 pm
  • Tejada replaces Meche

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:37 pm
  • V-Mart to third on WP, Youk walks
    Papi time

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:40 pm
  • To come back to Papi: having hit Manny behind him sure helped. But he did not hit at the beginning of last season when he had pretty good hitters hit behind him. He did better eventually after they dropped him to the 5 spot. I wonder if he dug himself kind of a mental hole when he repeatedly complained that the Red Sox need another power hitter.
It would probably make sense to switch him with Drew in the batting order, but there are matters of pride and confidence involved, so I guess they cannot do that with a guy who used to be a franchise player.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:41 pm
  • Papi starts the AB out going 3-0..end up striking out as Youk moves to 2d on the K.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:43 pm
  • Talking about aging players: Posada has hit another homer for the Yankees. Does that guy not get older? He’s a catcher for god’s sake, he’s supposed to wear down.
And Papi strikes out again …
    And Beltre drives in two!

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:44 pm
  • I think he did possibly psyche himself out. It just seems that he cannot catch up to fastballs or hit off speed stuff.
Beltre doubles bringing in V-Mart and Youk.
    8-3

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:45 pm
  • Posada stays in that lineup because he can hit. Possibly not the best defensive catcher, but he seems to always get the job done.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 3:46 pm
  • With a five-run lead Buchholz digs himself a 3-0 hole and Kendall promptly hits a double.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:49 pm
  • Clay needs way too many pitches. Aitcheson warming up while we’re still in the fourth and have five-run lead!

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 3:58 pm
  • Lead-of single. Clay is no fun to watch today regardless of the situation.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 4:10 pm
  • DP helps him out.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 4:10 pm
  • And then he walks the next guy. What is he so afraid of?

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 4:13 pm
  • Guillen flies out. Now Clay qualifies for the win if the bullpen can get the job done.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 4:15 pm
  • Quick 1-2-3 inning for MDC with help from Jacoby who made a great catch.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 4:28 pm
  • With the help of the DP MDC faces the minimum for a second inning.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 4:45 pm
  • been working in the yard, came by to check the game. Papi with 3Ks.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 5:02 pm
  • Ramon Ramirez gives up a three-run homer to Guillen. What a lousy season he’s having so far. Two-run game now!

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:07 pm
  • Guillen with his second dinger of the day.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 5:09 pm
  • Four Ks now for Papi. Pathetic. But I’ll force myself to be patient.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:22 pm
  • Papi may run himself out of town. He really needs to see witch doctor or team psych to work out his issues.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 5:24 pm
  • We have not scored since the fourth against the terrifying KC bullpen!

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:28 pm
  • Strange catch from Cameron, one down.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:31 pm
  • Ugly collision between Ellsbury and Beltre. Ellsbury might well have hurt his shoulder.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:35 pm
  • He leaves the game, holding his ribcage.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:36 pm
  • Maier flies out to Drew who’s come in for Ellsbury. Two down in the 9th.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:37 pm
  • Bill Hall now has moved from shortstop to right field to left field.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:38 pm
  • Game over. This was not pleasant and should never have come down to us having to use Bard and Papelbon.
Let’s hope Jacoby will be ok or only miss a couple.

pale blue eyes April 11, 2010, 5:40 pm
  • 2 Wins in a row. Relief pitchers need to learn that the defense can’t help you if you allow it to be cranked out of the park.

    Rob SF April 11, 2010, 5:41 pm
  • Ramon Ramirez ERA now 33,75!
