  • Mr. Clutch: waiting for the ninth again!

    YF April 14, 2006, 7:24 pm
  • vicodin doing the trick yet, YF?

    NickYF April 14, 2006, 7:25 pm
  • YF: ruining his credibility with every post.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:27 pm
  • Funny how Moyer started throwing SLOWER and got out of that jam.

    whatever April 14, 2006, 7:28 pm
  • Ortiz is clearly overpaid. (PS: it’s Tylenol w/ codeine, and it’s wearing the bleep off rapidly).

    YF April 14, 2006, 7:28 pm
  • Not before your last two posts it hasn’t worn off.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:29 pm
  • No jinx, I hope, but Curt looks really good so far.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:31 pm
  • I don’t have the game – how does Schilling look?

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:32 pm
  • Carl Everett sighting. Hide your dinosaurs.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:32 pm
  • Its OK, he won’t see them anyway.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:33 pm
  • Schilling is looking WAY too sharp for my liking.

    whatever April 14, 2006, 7:33 pm
  • Really, really good.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:33 pm
  • mattymatty, he’s a bit chubby and pasty.

    NicKYF April 14, 2006, 7:34 pm
  • nice…
So, has there been a bigger free agent bust than Adrian Beltre? He was terrible last year and he’s hitting .139 this year. Ugh.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:34 pm
  • Beltre’s value in my fantasy auction draft plummeted from last year to this year. He went for $35 last year, and I got him for $1 this year. He’s clearly not playing up to my price tag.

    NickYF April 14, 2006, 7:36 pm
  • “Ortiz is clearly overpaid.”
This coming from a guy who’s team is paying Mussina, Pavano and Wright $34.6 mil.
You should probably shouldn’t take any more medecine- you’re obviously not thinking clearly.

    Mayday Malone April 14, 2006, 7:36 pm
  • apparently, YF’s codeine induced jokes are not well-received by the New Englanders.

    NickYF April 14, 2006, 7:37 pm
  • I got them. Don’t generalize!

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:38 pm
  • I think YF was joking, Mayday.
Nick – Sexson isn’t doing much better. You don’t have him too I hope.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:38 pm
  • The jig is up: YF IS JOE SHEEHAN!!

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:38 pm
  • Wily Mo is very large.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:39 pm
  • What are the chances of Moyer throwing even one strike to Wily Mo all night? I’d put the over/under at about 20%.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:40 pm
  • no, I don’t, but my team sucks anyway right now. Crawford has stolen 1 base, my pitching staff is in shambles, I’m losing years to the stress.

    NickYF April 14, 2006, 7:41 pm
  • Wily Mo hit the ball very high. Unfotunately also very short. 2 down.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:42 pm
  • I don’t play fantasy for the same reason I don’t smoke: I’d probably like it too much, and its probably not that good for me.
Also, it would cause me to root against the Red Sox at some point, and I won’t have that. Whats your policy on drafting Red Sox players, Nick? Are you opposed to it?

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:44 pm
  • Oops! “Bathroom Break” Gonzalez got a hit.
    (Come on, everybody! Play along!)

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:46 pm
  • Moyer just got totally hosed by the home plate ump on a clear strike.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:48 pm
  • I thrown allegiance out the door. So, I’ve had plenty of Sox on my fantasy teams in years past. Oddly, none this year. I think it’s because I had Foulke last year.

    NickYF April 14, 2006, 7:49 pm
  • Moyer flirtin’ with disaster.

    whatever April 14, 2006, 7:50 pm
  • Come on, Loretta. Bases plugged. Though the inning should be over.
Youk really knows the plate. I can’t believe it’s taken him this long to get a full time job.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:50 pm
  • Darn. Still, lots of pitches and lots of baserunners, and it’s really early. Bodes well.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:52 pm
  • SF,
I’m glad you mentioned Moyer getting squeezed. Coming from a NY fan would sound a little, uh, biased.

    whatever April 14, 2006, 7:53 pm
  • Damn. Meat of the order coming up next inning…

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 7:53 pm
  • Love that improved infield D.

    SF April 14, 2006, 7:57 pm
  • Schilling has thrown 37 pitches through 3 innings. Pretty economical. Just for comparison, Moyer has thrown 51 through 2.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:00 pm
  • Thought Moyer had Papi looking on that third pitch.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:01 pm
  • Who else has been trying ESPN’s Gamecast beta? It’s really, really slick. I have it going while watching the game live, and I have to say I am impressed.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:03 pm
  • Manny looks off. Maybe it’s the steroids.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:03 pm
  • Manny hasn’t looked too good this year. He seems pretty far off. He’s swinging and missing a lot.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:05 pm
  • Manny started last year worse than this year.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:06 pm
  • Way to go, Curt! Let’s get him some runs, guys.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:12 pm
  • I don’t like this slow start stuff. Its becoming a habit…
8 pitch inning for Schill. High quality stuff.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:12 pm
  • I am not sure I like ESPN’s gamecast. I find the MLB interface a little easier for getting a quick sense of the game. Also, there seems to be more information readily available.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:13 pm
  • I never use ESPN anymore. MLB is, IMHO, far superior.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:15 pm
  • Rally, baby!

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:15 pm
  • Is YF passed out in a codeine-induced puddle?

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:15 pm
  • Hmm. Should Moyer load them up?

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:16 pm
  • Rally!! Come on WILY MO!

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:16 pm
  • With Wily Mo? Aren’t the odds in Moyer’s favor?

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:16 pm
  • TAKE. PLEASE.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:19 pm
  • The Black Hole comes through!

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:20 pm
  • Alright, Bathroom Break! Sox finally break through!

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:20 pm
  • …and WHY did Alex Cora pinch hit for him last night, again?

    stuck working April 14, 2006, 8:21 pm
  • By the way, the “Black Hole” nickname was meant in purely astronomical terms.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:21 pm
  • GGOW.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:22 pm
  • Say it with me now…
    YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUK!!

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:22 pm
  • Minor squander there. Still, a lead.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:27 pm
  • We’re leaving guys on base at a pretty high rate… Don’t like to blow so many good scoring ops… Did anyone see if Gonzalez was really out at home? Was it even close?

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:29 pm
  • The Sox are going to regret not cashing in the cheap runs, like the Mariners just did.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:35 pm
  • Beltre has poor career stats against Schilling.

    Anonymous April 14, 2006, 8:35 pm
  • Johjima is great fun to watch.

    Anonymous April 14, 2006, 8:37 pm
  • What an amazing at bat by Johjima. No wonder so many pundits picked him as ROY.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:39 pm
  • Morneau had a really good AB there.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:42 pm
  • Sorry.. wrong thread.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:43 pm
  • Sheesh, Manny… Does anybody K twice against Moyer since like 1963?

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:43 pm
  • Manny is really, really struggling. I can’t remember this many bad at-bats. And he stunk last year, too. But this seems a tad more futile to me.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:44 pm
  • The bottom 4 of the lineup has 5 hits, the top 5 has one. Not expected.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:45 pm
  • Weird night… Hopefully we can put a few more on the board. I don’t really feel secure with only a one run lead.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:46 pm
  • Weird night… Hopefully we can put a few more on the board. I don’t really feel secure with only a one run lead.

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 8:47 pm
  • SF – This may sound like mumbo jumbo, but it seems like Ortiz and Ramirez feed off each other. I need to look it up and see if there really is a correlation.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • 8 men LOB in 5 innings, most of them in scoring position it seems. This is the type of game many teams lose, when they don’t put guys across the plate.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • How does that explain Ortiz’ hot start, AG?

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • SF – Small sample set? I was more speaking across a season. Anyway, like I said, I need to investigate stats to back this up; I may be full of it. It’s more of a reaction based on watching a lot of games, with what may be false memories.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 8:52 pm
  • Nickel and dime shit here. Maybe the Sox should emulate.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:54 pm
  • Come on Curt, one more. Well done so far.

    SF April 14, 2006, 8:58 pm
  • WHIFF!!! Great job by Schilling, King two guys in a row with a man at third.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:00 pm
  • If the M’s are going to have a chance in the West, they have to nickle and dime. Meanwhile, Javy Lopez looks overmatched.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 9:01 pm
  • It’s Jose Lopez, not Javy.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:02 pm
  • i smell a big inning coming up for us.

    stuck working April 14, 2006, 9:03 pm
  • Sorry. Good catch SF. And Jose was outmatched.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 9:04 pm
  • …after the obligatory Pena K.

    stuck working April 14, 2006, 9:05 pm
  • I know the bottom of the lineup is doing well tonight, but I can’t help but look forward to the day that Crisp and Nixon are back as regulars. The depth is so important.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:13 pm
  • Moyer is over 100 pitches. Amazing how durable that guy is.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 9:14 pm
  • Second k for ARod

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • Second k for ARod

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • Double post. oops.

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 9:18 pm
  • Jeez, take a friggin’ pitch, Lowell.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:29 pm
  • I think Curt is back. For real.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:37 pm
  • think he’ll pitch a complete game, SF?

    stuck working April 14, 2006, 9:40 pm
  • 104 pitches for Curt. Meh. Bring in Papelbon.

    airk April 14, 2006, 9:40 pm
  • Stuck- Schilling’s next start is against Tampa. Why not?

    attackgerbil April 14, 2006, 9:43 pm
  • I think it’s JP time.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:47 pm
  • Wouldn’t this be some seriously painful poetic justice?

    mattymatty April 14, 2006, 9:49 pm
  • Ichiro whiffs! One to go.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:52 pm
  • Just BLEW that one by him.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:53 pm
  • Scary, wall-banger. Nice play by Manny to keep it to a single.

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:53 pm
  • DONE! Another save for Papelbon, and another win for Schilling.
    “Beckett and Schilling and…”

    SF April 14, 2006, 9:55 pm
  • game set match!

    airk April 14, 2006, 9:55 pm
  • .700 record, baby.

    Hudson April 14, 2006, 11:12 pm
  • Just got back from Mexico – what’d I miss? Nice to see a W today, regardless.
Coco and Papi locked up, Coco and Trotter down, JP still rocking it, .700 record, found the real Schill, Beckett yelling at people, Riske on the “DL” . . .
Wow, you guys have been busy this week.
