the bully just sucks, the pitching isn’t there, man ram was 0-10? in the series.
I think the term
is very true…he is playing that team in a coma right now, I trust they will kick it in the pants and get back on track, but the yanks reserves are KILLING people….and the sox starters are getting lit up…
Err, umm, what happens when the Yanks and Sox are looking up at the Jays? God forbid they acquire a name that can pitch with an ERA under 9. BJ Ryan is sporting a solid .55 ERA out of what appears to be a shaky bullpen (though Speier is doing an okay job).
The Sox are, I suppose, underachieving (although anytime they play the Yanks they look fine) and the Yanks are overachieving. When should we worry?
I hear a Yankee fan compain about their team right now and I will punch them in the face, with those injuries you should be 4 or 5 back.
The Red Sox are just killing me right now, there is no excuse for how bad this team is playing. None. Get it together boys AND I MEAN GET IT TOGETHER NOW!!!!
BJ Ryan would be the talk of the American League if not for Jonathan Papelbon. I wonder how pissed Tronto fans are that he’s getting completely ignored for what otherwise would be considered a Cy-worthy season…
Even if they were pissed, there aren’t enough Toronto fans to worry about upsetting.
Haha Lockland I hope you weren’t referring to me as complaining about the Yanks. I certainly am not. I was just curious about what happens when, you know, the world stops revolving around the Sawcks vs. the Yanks. We’re busy killing each other, and slowly but surely, Toronto is climbing.
There aren’t enough baseball fans in Canada to cause a commotion.
Clement goes on DL
Matt Clement was put on the disabled list today and Gabe Kapler was called up to take his place. (By Chris Snow, Globe Staff)
Question of the day: will Kapler do a better job in the rotation than Clement!?
How are the Yanks overachieving Rich? It seems to me that they have been “overachieving” for some time now. Melky has shown some decline in avg. but his OBP remains high, a good indicator for a rookie, Wang appears to have gotten his mechanics together for his sinker and has looked superb in his past two starts, the team is winning despite DJ and Arod slumping. If anything this team appears to be playing at level a little below what it is capable of.
by78: I said overachieving because of the fact that the team is getting it done without the likes of Alex and now Giambi/Jeets/Damon?. The pitching staff has been a mystery all year with Randy “Houdini” Johnson, Aaron “BP” Small, Scott “youngest to 2000 IP” Proctor, Kyle “Slider” Farnsworth, and of course the trio of lefties that have seen less innings than Darrell Rasner.
To me, it seems like Jorgie can’t keep it up, and now Jeets is coming back to earth. Moose won’t go 7IP <3ER all year. Wang looked great and I really hope he found his groove, but he's been too inconsistent to bank on that. Wright is good for 5IP, and we have no idea what Chacon will give.
I only said overachieving because of the current state of these Yanks. Two middle of the order guys go down, and they're still in first. Melky has been great, and AP is basically mashing when he gets regular PT. Even Bernie is hitting pretty well. Do we expect all of that to stick?
I'm a pessimist, but I can't say I'm anything but thrilled with the way this team has handled itself. Alex has all but disappeared, but the team hasn't missed a step. If the rest of the team stays on pace, and Jeets/Giambi/ARod/Damon start getting healthy/coming around, this team is going to be incredibly dangerous. Time will tell.
I’m a glass is half full type of guy myself, but you have valid points.
