The Yankees lose 2-1, get swept by Mets in the Subway. Losers of 5 straight, the offense has plated 10 runs scored in those last five.

  • And here come Tex and Youk.

It’s weird trying to make you feel better for it, but the Yankees have found a way thus far and the top 4 teams in the AL East are within 3 games of one another. Nothing is set. We haven’t quite killed May yet. More on that tomorrow.

  • Maybe. The Yankees are 11th in the AL in run creation and are trending in the wrong direction. Their fragile pitching – good enough for second in RA behind Texas – is the reason why they are still in the conversation.

  • “Fragile pitching” is definitely accurate, but I’m pretty sure if any of Lester, Buchholz, or Lackey goes down, the Sox’ season is pretty much toast. Buch and Lackey are certainly risks there at the moment.

I’d also say that the Sox sucked for about two weeks in early May, and every team is going to hit a skid (the Yankees hit theirs recently). How is the Yankees’ schedule in June? The Red Sox’ is pretty tough, I think.

  • Sigh.

I am trying to stay positive. The worst thing about this losing streak is that CC and Cano, our remaining to stars, have been god awful.

Cano especially disappears for long stretches waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to often. I’m not sure I trust him as the future/current face of the Yankees. It feels weird to say that because of his talent but how good would he be if was consistent? I don’t know…

Tex and Youk back tonight. Let’s hope they make a difference. We know Tex will in the field but we need some fucking offense. Big time.

The Sox can really bury us this weekend, or we can get back into first and get the ship turned around with Pettitte coming back next week.

If CC has yet another horrible game, at home, against Lester and the Sox…I don’t even want to think about it.
