Losing all 3 to the Rangers in Arlington was one thing. Losing 5 of 7 to Minnesota and Toronto at home is plain unacceptable.
So May has been unkind, but still, 2 GB of the division leaders and 1 of the first wild card, and holding the second wild card spot. Given the expectations of the pre-season, I think we’re pretty happy with that on May 14th, even if April got us excited.
So they’re neither as good as they were in April, nor as bad as they’ve been in May. How good are they? Only September knows.
Unkind matchup for the Sox with Lackey (whose sparkling ERA belies his utter implosion for four unearned runs against Minnesota in his last start…he threw a surefire double play ball into center field, it was ugliness: ugly dude, ugly play) against Matt Moore, having a heck of a start to the season. Tampa Bay just crept above .500 (and the upcoming Indians have been boiling hot recently). It’s hard to do well in the AL.
Comment if you’re feeling it.
