Sox are in the (recently) unfamiliar scenario of being able to take 2 of 3 from the Orioles at Camden. Lester and Hammel duke it out.
Looking forward to seeing Big Papi taking out his frustration on a baseball. And nine strong innings from John Lester would be appreciated, so that nobody will have to use that bullpen phone.
Papi does not exactly tear the hide of the ball, but gets a single against the shift nevertheless. Napoli brings Victorino home, Papi now at third where he can talk to the guy who ejected him yesterday.
Carp strikes out on three pitches. Not good. 1-0 Sox, middle of the first.
Two run homer by Big Papi! That’s how we like him!! 3-0 Sox
Right now Hammel can’t find the strike zone. Great moment for Victorino to get caught stealing.
Lester struggling, 4 pitch walk 2-0 pitch to Machado, tying run.
Lineout, escape with 3-0 lead intact through 5.
Salty double deep down the line with one down in 6th drives Hammel from the game.
Lined DP, ugh.
Sox should have a bigger lead by now.
Pedroia E, damn.
I wrote that about the A’s before the ASB: they have not done anything int he game and suddenly get all the breaks. Same shit applies to the O’s right now.
Wieters has the distance, but foul.
Big strike out for Lester.
And then the GIDP!
that’s the reliable Pedroia I know.
Sox lead by 3 through 7.
Bases loaded for Sox with 1 out and Salty up.
Single the other way, 5-0.
Thornton faces the minimum thanks to a DP and through 8.
Zee series, she ees taken. Good feeling last couple of days.
Nice win! Now if our friends from the Bronx could do us a favor!
Yanks have runners on first and second, one out in the bottom of the 9th. Cano just struck out, why should this bum set the market for second basemen?
Soriano wins it for the Yankees! First place for us. Now beat the fuckin’ Rays tomorrow.
Heh, just coming here to celebrate myself, pbe. Let’s kill Price tomorrow.
