Take Your Ring and Shove It

Though we come at it from a slightly different perspective, we still appreciate the sentiment from Pedro: “If they want to keep the ring, that’s fine,” says he. “I can live with the business part of it, not being able to afford me, or thinking I’m not that good, but I cannot understand the part where you mistreat my name, or mistreat what I did for the city of Boston because they have to build another image of me.”

  • Pedro’s got this thing where he just has to invent enemies.

  • Pedro just doesn’t know when to shut up. I love Pedro – we owe him thanks and gave them to him, and the Sox owed him big and paid him big for his services while he was there, which he has already forgotten. He left. He did a wise thing, career-wise. But he’s an even more mercurial, spoiled, petulant brat now, and he ought to just move on.
I’ve said a lot positive about Pedro, about his move to the Mets, but I wish he’d be quiet as he’s just hurting himself and his legacy in the eyes of Sox fans. The majority of us still revere the guy as a pitcher, but this doesn’t matter to him, I suppose – it’s all about Pedro. So I choose not to read any more about him and his anger at current Sox management – I’ll try to remember him as the guy who gave his all to the team, and not the guy who chooses to keep rattling on about how the team chose not to give it back – it’s neither a flattering charge nor an accurate one.

  • Indeed – drop it Pedro!
Pedro was great in 99-2001, but this is 2005.
    (OK, 2004 was great too.)
I don’t care what Pedro has to say lately – He can continue to say that he loves the fans, then say that he hates the organization – but we all are one in the same. Shut up Pedro! We (currently) love the organization!
Pedro – If you don’t stop bashing the org, us Sox fans will start to and then forever bash you!
Shut up! child! – you had many instances while you were here that we should have talked about more… and we didn’t. We supported you and put up with your childish behavior…
Pedro – If you can’t get over the fact that you are no longer a Sox-worthy $20 million player… then you will be forever displeased by us Sox fans crapping on your name.
Get over it, move on, have fun with the Mets, and good luck to you.

  • PS:
Pedro – You are the Michael Jackson of baseball. You are always here… but we want you to go away now.
We paid you a crap load of money, for a long time, because you were good at ONE thing… you sucked at everything else but we tried to ignore that.
Good luck in NY. I hope the fans there (not likely) can deal with your idiosyncracies.
Take your ring, take your HoF, shut up and go away. We’ll figure out how to win a few games without you – hell, out of 162 games you could only muster 16 wins anyway…
    Thanks, Pedro, and GL.

  • “Pedro – You are the Michael Jackson of baseball.”
Maybe you should have picked another person to compare Petey to. I guess Pedro did have his version of Emmanuelle Lewis last year, but still…
