Thank You from YFSF

Baseball continues, but alas not for the two great rivals of the northeast, the Sox and the Yanks, displaced this year from their perennial poll positions by those upstarts from retirementland. I think we all saw Tampa coming, but not so dramatically, and not so soon. Such is the national game: always surprising. But I digress. This note is to thank everyone out there who reads, comments, and contributes to this site, and to all of our friends in the blogosphere, for sticking with us through a difficult year, and making YFSF such an enjoyable, thought-provoking base on the internet diamond. Of course we’re not going anywhere. We’ll be here talking baseball through the World Series, into the hot-stove season, and then on into spring training and the campaign for 2009. There’s always next year. That’s the baseball fan’s classic refrain, and Yanks fans and Sox fans have a heck of a lot to look forward to—and some things to be disturbed by as well (ie, our new ballbark in the Bronx). Whatever happens, we’ll be here sharing our thoughts and opinions, and we hope you’ll join us. In the meantime, a tip of the cap from all of us here to all of you out there. Take a curtain call. You deserve it.—The Editors

  • And thank you, YFSF, for putting up with my silly nonsense. This site is a real treat for a Sox Fan in NYC.

  • There’s always next year.
Sometimes I see this phrase, and I think, “Will there ever be a time when there’s NOT a next year?” Will MLB as we know it last as long as society does? Can you picture MLB 300 years from now, surely changed dramatically by as-yet-unknown technologies but ultimately still having a World Series each year, still with broken-hearted fans saying, “Wait ’til next year”? Sometimes I can. Sometimes I can’t.

  • That’s funny, I can envision a future in which all sports leagues are governed by the quantum mechanics paradox of Schroedinger’s cat.
Fan 1: Wait ’til next year!
    Fan 2: Sometimes I can, sometimes I can’t.

Well by then it will have been taken over and dominated by cyborgs who throw 300mph.

  • i have to admit, i’m a yfsf addict…i just can’t break the habit…i’ve taken brief respites, when life interferes, but i’m right back at it again to get caught up on what’s been happening…i said thanks the other day to the mods for their tireless efforts to keep us connected, but it’s important enough to do again here: thanks mods!
and thanks to the other participants for keeping the conversation so interesting and lively…i’ve learned a lot from coming here [even from sox fans :) ] and i enjoy getting the different perspective on things…i already know a lot of sox fans and yankee fans quite well, but you folks add a lot more to the mix…thanks for that

  • Well, by 2020, we should have women and cyborg players. At least if you believe Super Baseball 2020!
