Josh Beckett is going to have a monster game. How do I know this?
Well, I’ll tell you. To start the season, Beckett gave up five runs in less than five innings. Then he gave up three runs in less than seven, then three runs in eight, then two runs in seven. That’s good for game scores of 40-56-62-75. Fibonacci or Nibofacci or Pinocchio or whatever his name was (math was not our strong suit in school) would be proud.
That’s an average game score increase of about 12 points. So Beckett’s game score today will be 87. I figure a complete game, three hits, one run, one walk, 11 strikeouts. That should do it.
He should get the win, but considering he’ll be facing James Shields, let’s hope it’s not a 1-0 loss. Here’s your game thread for all this evening’s action. Comment away!
