The Buck Stops Here: O’s Yanks Gamer XIII

Buck Showalter returns to the Bronx with his latest reclamation project, the Baltimore Orioles.  Showalter has built lasting winners time and again, and the early results from his days wearing the orange and black bode well for the team with the worst owner in baseball.

Fresh off a series-win against the Rays at Camden Yards, the O's visit Yankee Stadium led by Brian Matusz, who has pitched extremely well – and yet lost – to the Yankees three times this season, posting a 2.41 ERA in those games while the putrid O's offense scored only 2 total runs.  Meanwhile the Yankees send AJ Burnett to the bump – get your air-sickness bags ready YFs.

In theory this should be a good three days for the Yankees – playing the worst team in the division at home while the Rays and Sox square off in Boston.  But that's why they play the games – and while the Yanks have a 10-2 season record against the O's, it was compiled before Showalter arrived and guided the O's to a 19-13 record to-date.

Enjoy the Yanks' 5th day-game in a row – and happy Labor Day.

I’m always ready to do a flying leap off the AJ bandwagon, but I thought AJ was getting pretty squeezed there. Good job by him to get out of it.
I hear River Cats Nation is pissed AG – they’re small in numbers but an ornery bunch.

Strikeout and sac fly. 2 outs, man on 2nd. Not great, but just keep us in this AJ – please. Man, he can be so all over the place that he makes you feel like you won the lottery if he get through 6 innings with “only” 3 ERs. OK, 0-2 now. Put him away with the hook…

And there it is. That is such a perfectly fitting Burnett inning. Mixing great fball-hook action with crazy command issues/wild pitches. This offense should be able to muster 2 or more runs, right? right??

Good job AJ. Easch time the Yanks tie the game you give up the go-ahead run. The Orioles definitely look like they are grinding things out more than they did earlier in the year, but this is all on AJ. He’s just mediocre at best right now.

CC blows it in the 1st fucking inning…nice to see the team’s garbage-ness has now gotten to CC too.
Fuck you losers. Go ahead and lose a home series to the FUCKING ORIOLES in September.
Fuck this bullshit…

Woo. Hoo. We had to get a walkoff against the O’s and their 6 ERA pitcher…
Who is pitching in Texas????
Javy- LOSS
AJ- LOSS
Moseley- Maybe keeps it close
Fuck this team.

LET’S GO RED SOX…CLAP, CLAP, CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!!
Rediculous. I was really hoping they’d lay down, but alas, they show a little heart when they least need it.

Every day of the week, Krueg. But, aside from my inclination to just root against NY no matter what, it also ensures that Tampa drafts lower, and makes it all that much better when that small window begins to close on them.

The small window is closed. This is their last chance…until they move to Vegas perhaps???
Of course, it only took them a little over a decades worth of overall #1 draft picks to field a decent team so…
I hate the Rays now. I can’t imagine what it would be like if I hadn’t moved away in ’07???

Pettitte made it through his rehab start without any issues…whew.
We are going out for the game tonight. I have no idea as we are guaranteed to lose with sorry-ass Vazquez pitching. Not to mention I quit smoking again so this should be interesting.

“In tying a major league record by using 11 pitchers, the Rangers deployed 10 relievers to hold the Yankees to one run over the final 10 innings. Over all, they went 3 for 17 with runners in scoring position and stranded 18 runners”
First round exit in our future. Garbage offense against decent teams and no-name rookie pitchers, no starting pitching other than CC and a bullpen that gives up big runs at the worst times…
2011 should be good though. Crawford in left, no more Vazquez…maybe we can get rid of AJ somehow??? Pay most of his salary and trade him to Japan? South Korea?

I just don’t know what can be done about AJ? I mean, what the fuck can they do? He can’t be traded because he’s GROSSLY overpaid and he sucks so he obviously has no trade value anyway. Maybe to a AAAA team…
He is the sole reason we are not going to win in the playoffs. He is becoming the token whipping boy and it’s only going to get worse from here.
I think I’m going to throw up.

27 men LOB so far in this series…27. Not including the 2 on base right now in the 7th with 1 out…
I think we’ve had the bases loaded 4 times so far…1 run off of a walk.
Impressive.
Bases loaded AGAIN as I type this…can we ACTUALLY score runs in the most prime run scoring position possible in the fucking game????

Went to bed before the game ended last night because I knew the outcome anyway…and of course they lost again.
This season is over. Limp down the stretch, limp into the playoffs, lose in the first round. Who really cares though…football is back and hockey is right around the corner. Maybe next year we’ll be good again after the roster turnover and new free agents?
Now hopefully someone just beats the Rays in the playoffs.
