A lot of baseball fans say this jokingly but it seems/seemed pretty obvious, no?
The Phillies can win the WS, no doubt, not saying that but overall it doesn’t even seem debatable?
Is should not be overlooked that St. Louis beat Detroit in 2006 because Detroit forgot how to play defense in that series, and Tampa last year … well, the Rays might have been the best team in the AL but they finally looked up and were awestruck, something most of us figured would be their undoing in September.

No, krueg, it’s not. Unquestionably, a Philly win most likely would a collapse the equivalent of the Yankee payroll being reduced to that of the Marlins. Just too much to expect.
The Phillies can win because they haven’t played any games yet :). NY left hurlers will pose big problems for Phillies lefty hitters – especially Ryan Howard.
probably NY in 5 – I didn’t look, but I’m assuming the Yankees are going with a 3 man rotation?

Huh? I meant that if the Phillies win the WS, it still doesn’t mean that the NL is even close to as good as the AL. Like you guys always say, too small a sample. Phillies could sweep the series and it still doesn’t mean the NL is better than the AL, just that the Phillies were better than the Yankees in a 7 game series.
If you were agreeing sorry, your post is unclear to me. :)
Hey IBM what were the payrolls of the Sox in 2004 and 2007 versus the Rockies and Cards?
That’s irrelevant Joe because the Yankees spend more than anyone else…that’s all that matters. ;)
You know, watching the shows on MLB network and ESPN it seems that most think the Phillies are going to win???
I thought it was common knowledge that the Yankees lent their best players to the teams Boston was playing? How dare anyone think that those historic playoff series were fought on anything less than even ground! ;)
Not sure, krueg, but I’ve wondered. I’ve been feeling the same thing. I think it is because of my leanings. Tough to say though.
