  • I am VERY interested to see what Pineda has in a big game, in Fenway.

This is a great test. If he can match Tanaka? Damn we have two young stud starters. That would be super sweet.

  • Apropos of zilch, I just got this job I’ve been shooting for the past couple of months. Had to do a second interview round on Monday and was afraid I’d choked. NOPE! CHA-CHING! Such good news for me and my family. I’m gonna care a lot less if the Sox get pounded again tonight.

  • What if we hadn’t traded Soriano for ARod…and then had the money to sign Beltran when he went to the Mets.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm.

    0-2 after 1.

    Come on Lackey. Be Lackey.

  • Gutless pussy move by Farrell.

Did anyone go to the Ump when Lester did it in the playoffs??? Bucholtz??? How many times?

    What a piece of shit.

And I know, Pineda shouldn’t be as obvious but to get him kicked out? To literally go cry to the umps?

Shows you how bad the Sox need this win I guess. Nice job Farrell you punk bitch.

  • I thought you just had to wash it off too? No idea it was an ejection. And now a suspension too?

Such a complete bitch move. Gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

  • No, krueg, it’s really stupid of Pineda to do it again. And it’s dumb of his teammates to not call him out for it.

  • Pineda is an idiot. And Rothschild/Girardi have to bear some blame too. All he had to do was put the stuff on his cap, glove, belt, whatever. I get your annoyance at Farrell given how blatantly some sox pitchers have done the same. But Farrell did NOT call him out last time and for Pineda to then idiotically flaunt it like that gave Farrell no choice. You add to that throwing Gardner into a windy Fenway right field for his first ever RF foray and I think he gets an F- for managing this particular game. Don’t get me wrong. I like Girardi. But the Yanks are handing this game to the Sox.

  • If not for Jeter’s two errors this would be a 2-1 game, despite Lackey’s Cy Young impersonation and everything else the Yankees have done to soil their pants (and necks).

    IronHorse - yf April 23, 2014, 9:54 pm
  • That’s generally my sentiment, horse. He was too blatant about it.

  • However, other than Buck last year at Toronto, I don’t recall any other time the Sox have done it.

  • This is a travesty. Pineda has sweaty palms and obviously very sweaty neck glands as well.

    attackgerbil April 23, 2014, 10:59 pm
  • Lester’s green gunk in his glove in the playoffs….which, like Pineda last game, called it “dirt”.

    IronHorse - yf April 23, 2014, 11:07 pm
  • OK, calmed down now.

It was stupid. Pineda is stupid, he was too blatant.

BUT, did Larussa have Lester checked in the World Series when he had “foreign substances”? Did the Jays have Clay checked…that time. The other managers the other times?

No. They didn’t. Why? Because they all use it. All of them.

The fact of the matter is that Pine-da was starting to lay the Sox down, because he could grip the ball in the cold. Farrell saw this and panicked because he knew he was probably staring down another loss and he was already in last place. THAT is why he did it. Bitch. Move.

I am not trying to be rude to you guys and yes, Pine-da is an idiot. But Farrell is a little tattle-tail. So good, you won a game and our guy misses 1 start. Congrats. Now lets see your two best pitchers ever try the same thing again. I hope Girardi just has them checked in the middle of a big game to fuck with their heads. Open season for babies…

  • My two cents one day later: Farrell did not complain the first time it happened, so acting exactly like those noble examples krueg is holding against him. But by doing it again so blatantly Pineda is clearly showing him up which is why Farrell came out this time. I’m pretty sure Girardi would have done exactly the same had the roles been reversed.

Why not legalise pine tar for pitchers, if not generally than at least in certain weather conditions?

  • I don’t know if he would have…pandora’s box has been opened now. Cashman and Girardi are certainly taking the high road. I have to believe that once he had that last out, they were going to wipe his neck off and that was it. Everyone saw it.

But no, Farrell made sure that he got booted. Fine. I feel that. He saw what was happening, Pine-da could actually hold the ball and was now throwing better pitches. But it’s a pussy move. If he came BACK out in the 3rd inning with it, then I could see it.

But you are correct for sure, just lift the stupid ban. Who cares? Leg-a-LIZE it…yeah. :)
