Earl Weaver died last night. Weaver was the ultimate manifestation of The Baseball Manager for me as a kid. Way more than Martin. Just a bit more than Lasorda. The character he painted in my mind is unlike any other: Weaver was THE Manager. I hated him. And loved watching Yankees-Orioles games more than any other.

um, well, he doesn’t duck an interview, if you can call it that, when he wins..but yea, the evasive not-answer is consistent win or lose
