The Stopper, Contd: A’s-Sox Gamer V

Josh Beckett looks to get the Sox back on track and pull them to 50 wins tonight against Dana Eveland and the Athletics. Eveland has a 7.40 ERA, meaning he will one-hit the Sox through 14 innings of a 0-0 tie, upon which the Sox will lose on an inside-the-park four-base error by Julio Lugo.

If only this team did better against the crap. The Sox chose a fine time to slump with the bats, pitch like shit, and get hurt. Such enjoyable baseball to watch.

Well, after 3 innings, so far, so good. But the last time I stopped watching a game because I felt like it was in the bag, it was the rain delay nightmare of Baltimore. So I’m not taking anything for granted here…

Steady so far, Beckett’s gotta get this guy in the 5th with 2 out, a man on 2nd, and a 3-run lead.
Walks #9 dude, that’s bad.
Offense hasn’t taken real advantage of some bases-loaded situations, but can’t complain too much so far.

Beckett gets to 0-2 fast on Cabrera.
Then gets him to ground to short. C’mon offense!

Hey, everyone.
My dad is in recovery. Five bypasses. Sounds like he’ll be fine.
Thanks very much for your good wishes. It really means a lot.
Now let’s go, Bay! And Papi!

IBM that’s great, I hope your dad borrowed all the Sox’s good fortune tonight!

Shoot, Drew K’s in a big spot (runners corners, 1 down). After Bates got that hard-earned walk, too. Can Pedey salvage it?

Beckett (I believe correctly) pulled with 2 outs in the 7th with the leadoff man coming up. Okajima in. Hard-luck chopper (super-high bounce) that Beckett fielded and threw cleanly. Just stayed in the air too long.
So it’s 2 on, 2 out, 3-run lead. Another big moment.

Nice to see the win, but outstanding to hear your dad’s doing well, IBM!

EXTREMELY happy to come home to see a Beckett win and IBM’s dad doing well. Great night overall.
