The Jeter Meter: Grand Salami Edition

It took 136 at bats to get the GS monkey off Our Hero’s back, a fact that we can only attibute to the Captain’s commitment to putting team need ahead of personal glory. But we were nevertheless thrilled to see DJ’s first slam today, and also note that this clout extended his latest hit streak to 11 games. Look out Joe D!

  • You mean to tell me that “Mr. Clutch” had never hit a grand slam before? Hows that possible?

  • Same way the amazin’ greatest team of all-time Boston Red Sox only won 1 World Series last year.

    Battingly June 19, 2005, 1:39 pm
  • They only play one world series a year right? They can only win on a year. Pretty sure they have won more than one throughout, but I could be wrong. Nope, I’m not.

  • One more than the Yankees won that year, right battingly?

  • Anyway you slice it. It’s still 26 – 6. I didn’t want to bring that up. However Sox fans still seem to enjoy putting down the Yankees more than they do supporting the Sox.

  • Completely off topic. I saw Jonathan Richman last night in Williamsburg. A fun show by a great singer. That’s one thing this native New York Yankee fan will have to concede to you Bostonians. Boston will always be the birthplace of The Modern Lovers. He was so good he made me want to visit the government center.

  • No knockin’ Paul Rudolph on this site. BGSC, surely on of our favorite Boston landmarks.

  • Bats: we’ve been through this many times. We don’t enjoy bashing the Yanks more than we enjoy supporting the Yankees or for that matter winning. Don’t project.
And Paul Rudolph rules, though the best uses of the Government Center over the last three decades or so have surely been world championship rallies – the #1 line ever uttered in that place was in fact not said by a politician, but by Larry Bird: “Moses DOES eat shit”.

  • wasn’t bashing Rudolph. I was just being a cheese ball and referenced my favorite Modern Lovers song. The Government Center is one of the odder and more interesting buildings in the sometimes too quaint city of Boston.

  • “Same way the amazin’ greatest team of all-time Boston Red Sox only won 1 World Series last year.”
I like to see a team win more than 1 World Series in a year, apparently idiot applies to the fans as well as the team.

  • Wow Steve. First of all, Battingly was in no way pretenting to be a Sox fan there. Did you even read the posts? Steve, please refrain from using the keyboard before actually having a grasp on the English language. MattyMatty was poking fun at Jeter (which was uncalled for after the Captain was finally able to say he’s 1/19 as clutch as Manny with the bases juiced), and Battingly was, in return, poking fun of the Sox. Sorry I had to explain that to you.
