The NYT and the Stadium Redux: Mind Your D*mn Business

Looks like the Yankee brass didn’t take too kindly to this weekend’s NYT editorial suggesting the team pay for its own new stadium and all of its trappings. Bomber president Randy Levine seems especially chagrined that the NYT, which has an interest in the Sox and is receiving some perks of its own from the city as it builds its new HQ, would have the temerity to criticize the plan. Conflict of interest or legitimate public advocacy? You be the judge. But here’s another question: Is it a problem that the public debate about the future of one of our most cherished spaces is taking place on, um, Page Six?

  • Thanks for the tips, John. We’re big fans of NY 1900, which sits on the shelf before us as we type. We hope you’ll share some of your studio’s ideas with us some time down the road.
