The View’s Quite Nice from This Paper Bag: Sox-Tigers Gamer III

The Red Sox are on ESPN. Ordinarily, I’d be thrilled. I’ll still be watching tonight, but I won’t be thrilled. Not with Justin Verlander on the mound. If the Red Sox can’t hit Jeremy Bonderman, they certainly will be having trouble with young Mr. Verlander (unless all those innings are starting to attack his young arm — a distinct possibilty).

On the mound for the Sox? David Wells, about whom there is slightly more reason to be hopeful than in previous starts. But not that much. This could be an embarrassing night for the Sox, who desperately need a win just to keep the illusion of some sort of momentuum going into The Series.

Yup, I still have no idea what the hell Francona’s doing. And I don’t think he does either.

  • Trying to avoid our first sweep at home since 2002 (Atlanta) according to ESPN.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:04 pm
  • 42 games over a span of 6.5 weeks.
    It begins tonight.
…and no, I don’t mean the sarcastic remarks including, but not limited to:
    Beginning of the end.
    Beginning to lose faith.
    Beginning of the ’07 preseason.
Beginning to care more about Pats preseason.
Beginning to spend more time with the family.
    …and so forth.

  • Full count on the first batter (Pudge Rodriguez) for Wells.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 7:15 pm
  • Rodriguez walks….10 pitches.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:17 pm
  • On the 10th pitch, he walks. Gar. Hope it’s not the way this is going.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 7:17 pm
  • Wells!! Great pickoff. The second good move to 1st by our starters in the last two nights.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:18 pm
  • Picked off! Now THAT’S good stuff.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 7:18 pm
  • I’ll take it!

  • Coco…first pitch, single.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 7:26 pm
  • Coco singles….

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:26 pm
  • We need you tonight Manny.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:30 pm
  • O’s up 2-0

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:31 pm
  • Manny GIDP..

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:33 pm
  • DP. Gross.

  • I walk in and Manny GIDPs. Nothing like a familiar sight to welcome me home.

    SF August 16, 2006, 7:33 pm
  • Wells needs a quick work inning here.
On that, Coco with a nice sliding catch in center. Timed it great.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:36 pm
  • Pena with the shuffling feet makes the catch in right.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:39 pm
  • Casey catches the ball on the steps of the dugout.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:41 pm
  • Lowell grounds out.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:42 pm
  • Pena 1st pitch hack sends the ball to short that the Guillen bobbles, pick up and then throws him out.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:43 pm
  • Sorry, Pena swung at the 2nd pitch.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:44 pm
  • Everyone’s grounding out, it seems. The Sox have blown out what, one team (the O’s on Friday) in the last month? That ought to tell us something about both the situational hitting and the pitching.

    SF August 16, 2006, 7:45 pm
  • Agree SF. They are not doing a good job of working the pitch count as the heat rises.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:46 pm
  • Rumor on internet concerning Hawkins from the O’s possibly headed to the Sox on a waiver trade.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:47 pm
  • Infante with a double off the monster.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:48 pm
  • Rodriguez singles to left, Infante held to third as Manny scoops the ball up quickly.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:51 pm
  • Well Cory Lidle is doing his damnest to make thet Yankees hate that they picked him up…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 7:52 pm
  • Wells throwing BP this inning. Everything waist high.

    SF August 16, 2006, 7:53 pm
  • Monroe with a RBI single to center.
    Rodriguez at 2nd.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:53 pm
  • Thre straight hits…..
where was Wells for Papi during the homerun derby?

    Rob August 16, 2006, 7:54 pm
  • Jeeez Y’know I just get home and I look at the score and HEY we are at least tied at 0…
F**K… Is it me, do you think? Should I just not watch them…
for crying out loud…(and then sobbing uncontrolably)

    Brian August 16, 2006, 7:55 pm
  • Out of the half-inning down by 1. Goddamn you, offense.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 7:57 pm
  • Javy Lopez walks…..

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:00 pm
  • Hey! A leadoff walk. I like that. Nice job, Lopez.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:01 pm
  • Lets see, with Lidle giving up a run every inning so far, the Orioles got feel like it’s going to be a good day… so long as their pitching holds up that is

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:01 pm
  • Supposedly Verlander’s weak inning is the 3rd. Opponents batting .294 during this inning, .224 all others.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:01 pm
  • Damn, Verlander has pitched about as many balls as strikes…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:04 pm
  • That’s a weird stat, Rob, and I think it’s just an anomaly.

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:05 pm
  • Nice AB by Cora so far

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:05 pm
  • Cora works the walk.
Coco, patience young grasshopper. Wait for your pitch.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:05 pm
  • On the other hand, he’s struggling in the third, right? Cora worked a very, very nice at-bat there.

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:06 pm
  • Good job Cora…way to makem pitch!

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:06 pm
  • I agree SF, they placed it on the screen here on the ESPN game. They said this has been the inning where he has had problems.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:07 pm
  • So much better than a double play…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:07 pm
  • Okay…barring anything dumb, we’ll at least get Ortiz up there with RISP. Hope for more. Go Loretta!

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:08 pm
  • Loretta drives in a run to tie it up.
    Small ball.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:08 pm
  • I like that bunt. Normally the small ball frustrates, particularly with the top of the order coming up this early in the game, but the Sox need to scratch a tie back, start over. You can only trail for so long before the pressing starts in earnest.
And Loretta gets the run in – the bunt works nicely. If only Tito could manage the pitchers that smartly…

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:08 pm
  • Christ, walks Papi.
    Manny…..please do something……

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:10 pm
  • At some point Manny’s gonna have to make pitchers pay for walking Ortiz, or else Ortiz is never going to see another fat pitch.

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:10 pm
  • Please do something Manny. Please, please, please.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:11 pm
  • And Manny hacks at the first pitch and grounds out. A waste.

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:11 pm
  • His stats after an intentional IBB for Ortiz were good a couple weeks ago. Don’t know how they stand now.
They don’t get any better there.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:12 pm
  • Manny works the one pitch AB and grounds out.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:12 pm
  • Geez Y’know ever since the game Manny got that walk-off,he’s not the same Manny heck he was kinda funky during that game too

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:13 pm
  • Leadoff single. Yeah, let’s give that one right back…

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:15 pm
  • Popout to Crisp, who attempts to double the runner off of first by rolling it through the infield to first.

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:16 pm
  • personally… I think toward the end of it, that whole streak thing screwed with Manny’s head

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:16 pm
  • Whew. Close.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:18 pm
  • Checking Wells stats he is showing twice as many fly outs (6) as ground outs (3) Not very encouraging for a famously so, ground ball pitcher.

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:19 pm
  • Done. More runs!

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:19 pm
  • Make that 7 fly outs 4 grounders, now

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:21 pm
  • Both strikes on Lowell were pop fouls around his eyes.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:25 pm
  • For the second inning in a row, the first 2 Sox reach base.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:26 pm
  • Be calm… it’s just two no out walks… Calm…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:27 pm
  • Ohh damn it Wily Mo

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:28 pm
  • F***ing f*** me up the a**!
    Do something Lopez!

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:28 pm
  • He does….watches the third strike go by.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:29 pm
  • Well. That sucked hard, glad i stayed calm

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:32 pm
  • Is it possible that we are looking at another decent pitching performance that may be wasted?

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:36 pm
  • 5 innings, 1 ER from Wells. It’s like a dream…except in a dream the Sox would have scored 9.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:37 pm
  • Loretta singles with 2 out.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:44 pm
  • ORTIZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:45 pm
  • It’s barely a big fly, but it’s a big fly! DAVID ORTIZ!!! 3-1 Sox.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:46 pm
  • Ball <<<<<<>>>>>> clears the wall.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:46 pm
  • P……A……P…..I
    Simply a GOD

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:47 pm
  • Damn, Manny K’s

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • I just had an incredibly cool and frustrating experience. MLBtv froze up as the pitch from Verlander approached Papi, it was maybe 20 feet from the plate when it froze. The pitch looked to be hanging, and for a moment I thought I could detect Papi’s eyes lighting up. About 60 seconds later, it cuts to a replay of Magglio reaching for the ball as it hits the bullpen. Awesome. And annoying.

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • Manny whiffs. It’s 84 pitches for Verlander through 5.
Wells, please don’t give up a run here. Please.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • Wells, by the way, has thrown 64.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:50 pm
  • DAMN!!!! DAMN!!!! Ordonez with a shot over the monster.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:52 pm
  • Well that didn’t take long. Bozo hits a dinger.

    SF August 16, 2006, 8:52 pm
  • Oh, for f***’s sake.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:53 pm
  • Of course, where have we heard this before Red Sox pitcher immediately gives up a run when Sox hitters have a big inning

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:54 pm
  • …and the only way you could have been more immediate than that was if Wells gave it to him on the FIRST instead of the second one.

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:56 pm
  • f**k me

    Rob August 16, 2006, 8:58 pm
  • Great, oh so y’know just shove an watermellon up my ass BOOMER!

    Brian August 16, 2006, 8:59 pm
  • This is SOOOOOO expected.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 8:59 pm
  • Y’know I just realized… We really SUCK

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:01 pm
  • 3 runs, all on homers. It’s just so sad. This year seemed all full of promise and stuff in the middle. Now I’d be surprised if we make the playoffs. And I don’t think we’d see the ALCS ever.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:02 pm
  • And of course Wells has totally demoralized the Sox hitters and they’ll do sqaut to answer…so the Tigers will have made the Red Sox look like little b***hes

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:03 pm
  • Hey season. Turn around. That was the cliff you just went off.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:04 pm
  • Lowell walks with 1 out.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:04 pm
  • Well, here come the Yankees 3-2 now

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:05 pm
  • Leyland strides to the mound. Leyland really seems on top of his pitchers. God I wish our manager was that sharp. And I say this knowing that Francona is much better than most.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:06 pm
  • So much for WMP plate disipline..

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:06 pm
  • Hey, we can leave them loaded now!

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:10 pm
  • This is an opportunity. This will probably be the only one.
    Ball 1 to Coco.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:11 pm
  • Leyland showing a LOT of faith here. Though I guess you can do that with a six game division lead.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:11 pm
  • Will we score here….. I am so disgruntled I’m not betting on it…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:11 pm
  • If Coco doesn’t take a strike here I quit.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:11 pm
  • Thanks, Coco, you absolute MORON. Ball three, a high fastball, swung right through by Crisp. Jeezus that’s bad baseball.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:12 pm
  • Coco comes through on the next pitch, though, with a wallball double. Leyland perhaps a tad slow after that walk that loaded the bases. Even the smart ones get burned, I guess.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:14 pm
  • Hey thanks, Coco!
Thanks a whole effin’ lot, Cora. Close play, though.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:15 pm
  • 6 hits and 7 walks allowed by Verlander.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:15 pm
  • Y’see… I just KNEW they’d score!
the f**kers got it together and scored two…course it would have been better NOT to then get thrown out at home…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:16 pm
  • Hansen warming up

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • I havn’t seen a good replay yet, but I say Cora is safe. The throw beat him but he wasn’t tagged.

    I'm Bill McNeal August 16, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • I stand by my comments about Coco taking a strike though, no matter the results, and that may be stubborn of me. Coco would have been ahead 3-0 at that point. Pressure all on Verlander with wildness prevalent. Nonetheless, it’s impossible to complain about the results.
And Cora was safe with an insurance run, but called out at home. Maybe Terry could start kicking dirt around. How does he not vociferously argue that call, which was really really bad.
Lastly, why is Wells starting this inning? I would have been inclined to say “no mas” after those last two homers. But I’ve been constantly wrong about in-game management these last few nights so I guess Tito’s guess is as good as any.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • Cora’s foot appears to make contact with the plate before being tagged. of course the cowards on ESPN are afraid to call it straight and go against the umps.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:19 pm
  • It seems to me Wells is getting an inordinate number of comebackers this year. The one at his knee most infamously.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:19 pm
  • I think Wells is done and should be gone BUT who the heck does Tito summon up the courage to stick in there?

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:19 pm
  • My Tivo confirms that Alex Cora was very safe.

    attackgerbil August 16, 2006, 9:20 pm
  • Cora was safe. Bad call, good send by Hale. Blown by Froemming, pretty clearly. Again, I don’t see why Francona doesn’t put out a little more energy arguing that one, which COST THE TEAM A CLEAR RUN. Zombies, even with the big hit and a lead. Fenway sounds just catatonic tonight.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:20 pm
  • Wells all done, Hansen headed to the mound.
Please Pen, hold it together tongiht.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:22 pm
  • Where’s Delcarmen tonight? Breslow? Hansen?
Francona comes out to get Wells with two down in the seventh. Wells looks very unhappy with the hook, but I think Tito’s played this one intelligently, even if it doesn’t work out.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:22 pm
  • Thanks, Wells. You’re WAY better than Jason Johnson.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:22 pm
  • Agreed, Wells is done for the night. Hopefully the pen does not waste a decent outing from Wells.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:23 pm
  • If Wells gives up a gopher ball here I’m going to punch my monitor…
Oh GOD TITO DID SOMETHING preventative

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:23 pm
  • Paul, your expectations for ESPN are too high. You know better.

    I'm Bill McNeal August 16, 2006, 9:23 pm
  • Hansen – one pitch, one out. Bozo with the popup.
(seriously, Magglio’s hairdo is comically bad)

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:25 pm
  • Yay!

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:25 pm
  • YES Hansen closes it out no answer from the Tiggers there

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:25 pm
  • Yes, but Magglio’s hair, is it as bad as Oscar Gamble’s used to be

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:27 pm
  • By the way, Petey goes back on the DL.
And the Globe reports that the Sox have signed Carlos Pena. Thank GOD!!! Our problems are solved!

    I'm Bill McNeal August 16, 2006, 9:29 pm
  • Papi walked again.
    Manny, please, please, please.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:30 pm
  • Tell me THAT wasn’t intentional…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:30 pm
  • Manny singles Ortiz to second after Papi walks. Two on, one down.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:30 pm
  • Wish Manny had given that a RIDE

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:31 pm
  • Youk bangs one to center, bases loaded again.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:32 pm
  • Speedy Ortiz held up at 3rd on Youk’s single.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:33 pm
  • Okay, this is good, wish we’d scored already but this is good…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:33 pm
  • Lowell with the sac fly, Ortiz scores to give the Sox a two-run lead.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:35 pm
  • Papi does not look good trying to sprint. that was an ugly facial expression.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:35 pm
  • Another run! A whole 2-run lead. Will this one last? Could it possibly *gasp* get bigger?

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:36 pm
  • I really hate a sac fly ther but I’ll take it

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:36 pm
  • WM taking batting lessons from Nomah again.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:37 pm
  • Nope. 2 will have to do.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:37 pm
  • WMP what up with you?? …that ball had smash the crap outta me writen all over it!

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:38 pm
  • Jeter grounds out with Damon on 3rd to end the 7th. Yanks down a run.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:39 pm
  • MDC should start this inning.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:40 pm
  • When Oscar Gamble had that hair, it was cool. Mags? Nope.

    I'm Bill McNeal August 16, 2006, 9:40 pm
  • Listen, if Hansen gets out of this inning unscathed I promise not to nickname him Craig Hamstrung

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:40 pm
  • Leadoff single Tigers. Color me shocked at this turn of events.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:40 pm
  • Er, make that “should have started”. Tito getting greedy with Hansen. I know he only threw one pitch, but that rest between innings could not have helped at all.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:41 pm
  • Yank him now, Tito!

    I'm Bill McNeal August 16, 2006, 9:41 pm
  • When Oscar Gamble had his hair it was more acceptable, it was NEVER cool

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:41 pm
  • I’ve forgotten DPs don’t always hurt the Red Sox.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:42 pm
  • NOW TITO

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:43 pm
  • Like to throw a strike this inning, Hansen?

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:43 pm
  • If he gets on base, you had effing better pull him, Tito.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:44 pm
  • It’s not that Francona’s moves (or non-moves) will always hurt the Red Sox. Many times they won’t. But how he comes into this inning with nobody even warming up is befuddling. Hansen sat on the bench for a good 15 minutes after throwing one pitch, not exactly a recipe for sharpness. He may get out of this inning, but Francona had no contingency plan, which is just dumb as far as I am concerned.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:44 pm
  • And Hansen gets out of it well. Good escape.

    SF August 16, 2006, 9:45 pm
  • Wait…that was an OUT? incredible…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:45 pm
  • Thankfully he escapes the inning with no damage done.
Hopefully Paps can come in and close this out. of course I would feel a lot better if we hung like 10 runs on the board this inning.

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:46 pm
  • I thought MDC was warming, SF. Though I agree he should have kicked it off.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:47 pm
  • I can’t believe Casey hit a grounder off a ball smack in the middle of the plate

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:47 pm
  • C’mon JAVY!!!!

    Brian August 16, 2006, 9:48 pm
  • Lopez is friggin slow. How in the world did he get thrown out on that?

    Rob August 16, 2006, 9:49 pm
  • What brand of refrigerator was Lopez carrying there?

    I'm Bill McNeal August 16, 2006, 9:49 pm
  • Oh, no. It was cool.
You never saw the White Shadow.

    I'm Bill McNeal August 16, 2006, 9:50 pm
  • A refrigerator with no juice in it, Bill.

  • Millar grounds into a double play for the Orioles with the bases loaded and 1 out in the 8th. He’s still finding ways to hurt the Sox.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 9:55 pm
  • Bases loaded with Orioles one out, looks good for B’more who strides to the plate…that’s right my friend and yours KEVIN MILLAR what does he do, you ask… well what did he do for us so often I called hime Rally Killer last year?? THATS RIGHT he GROUND INTO A DOUBLE PLAY!!!!!

  • Wow, we won… did we win… yes… well what the F huh?

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:00 pm
  • In all seriousness, I’m pretty scared of this Yankees series. I’m kinda expecting to get whupped. Luckily, my feelings have exactly zero impact on the outcome of these games.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:04 pm
  • Yankees with two one and only one out…y’see that means the next guy will clobber it somewhere not like that piece of dung Cowboy Down

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:04 pm
  • Finally…

    SF August 16, 2006, 10:04 pm

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:05 pm
  • Devine…my question is will we win any of them?

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:06 pm
  • My feelings right now are that the Sox will win one game. Again, just pessimistic right now. Not exactly playing fantastic baseball, those Sox.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:10 pm
  • I’m so amazed that the game is OVER and we ACTUALLY won it… that for a second I was startled and confused when I looked at the spot where the gameday scoreboard showed the Sox score and it said FINAL my heart stopped for a second…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:12 pm
  • That’s a sad commentary, isn’t it?

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:13 pm
  • Good win. That’s the first win over a good team in a long time. I am trying to remember the last one…

    SF August 16, 2006, 10:13 pm
  • The White Sox just before allstar break….I remember

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:14 pm
  • Also nice to see Papelbon mowing down a good team.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:18 pm
  • KC is murdering the White Sox (as if it wasn’t bad before). 10-0.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:19 pm
  • Devine, you are right my friend….Paps actually mowing people down like the monster he is

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:19 pm
  • What’s up with that? The boils got creamed by the Indians 13 to zip the other day…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:21 pm
  • In “does it matter anymore?” news, the Blue Jays are about to fall further behind the Sox.
Yankees: 1 down in the bottom of the 9th.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:22 pm
  • Walk Giambi.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:25 pm
  • John “0 for 4” Damon up with 2 down and a man on 1st.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:26 pm
  • 0 for 5. 2 GB. Thank you, Orioles.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:29 pm
  • Yes thank you JD but you do know that he was like their whole offense last night…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:32 pm
  • I’m certainly aware of his contributions, but I’ll take my scadenfreude when I can get it.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:33 pm
  • apparently the umpires purposely blew the call at first on a Melky GIDP ball so JD could be humiliated by a HUGE 0 fer

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:34 pm
  • ooops. scHadenfreude.

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:36 pm
  • knew what you meant

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:36 pm
  • Okay, I have a question… we needed this game

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:38 pm
  • We SHOULD have won yesterday…

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:38 pm
  • Was this a good win… I mean was it a well played game by the Sox?

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:39 pm
  • Six runs should be enough to win you a game. Wells was okay through 7 (well, 6 2/3), and the relief got the job done.
I’d call it a good win.
    And I’m going home!

    Devine August 16, 2006, 10:41 pm
  • Ohhh Hell you still at work?? go you maniac

    Brian August 16, 2006, 10:42 pm
