Yankee manager Joe Girardi Bill Belichick?

i have to agree with you sf, joe’s starting to sound a lot more like ol’ bill everytime a discussion of injuries comes up…i understand bill’s motivation, but less so with joe, especially at this point in the season, when it doesn’t really matter…confusing really…the yanks need to do a better job of coordinating their explanations of injury events, even if there’s not much information when it’s first reported…
If you want to know why Mo is injured, just look at his recent gamelogs. Girardi has been binging and purging with Mo in the last month.
He used Mo August 22, 23 and 24, and two of those appearances lasted more than one inning. Then he used him September 13, 14 and 15, then again September 19, 20, 21 and 23. The games on the 20th and 21 were not save opportunities.
In that stretch from the 13th to the 23rd Girardi used him in 7 out of 10 games. Those are also games that were meaningless, as the wild card was 9 games out of reach. Not a smart move for a high-paid closer who turns 39 in November.
Not sure I’d put Joe in the same category of cheating liar as I would Bill, but he does seem to be a little less informative than he was in April, but on the same note, he never took any oath to the press to be completely honest with them. His allegiance lies with his team, and if a benefit to not reveal every bump and bruise to the press, then so be it.
Girardi really made some rookie mistakes this year both dealing with the press and the veterans on his team. I really hope that he has the ability to adjust next season because I do like some of the changes he brought to the team but if he cant sort these two things out, he will have some problems moving forward in New York.
brad, i agree joe is not comparable to bill on the cheating issue…to the best of my knowledge joe’s never been accused of that…being called a liar is pretty extreme, but it’s not out of reach to say joe has fibbed at times about injuries…when a guy like mo gets hurt, even at this point with the yanks out of it, it’s big news…you have to say something, or fan’s will wonder what’s going on and why he isn’t with the team…i’m ok with a little misinformation until they can give us all the facts, but it’s embarrassing that joe and cashman can’t get on the same page…
Brad, as dc noted correctly I am alluding to Belichick’s notorious misdirection (and “un”-information) with regards to injuries. Nothing else.
if you haven’t seen this yet, it’s an instant onion classic….
that was hilarious rod…i especially liked the part about arod getting his own stadium…they should have said one of the ground rules in stadium ’13’ is that pop-ups are automatic outs…
the artist rendering of the valet bunting service brought a tear to my eye.
