Because the Texas Rangers now have roughly 1 bazillion bandwagon fans, their Opening Day tickets — available in past years with no real effort — went into a lottery, and me and my three friends were among the 1 bazillion unlucky losers in our quest to see the new-look Red Sox open their season in Arlington.
Nevertheless, I am now the proud owner of tickets to Game 3 of the 2011 season to see the Boston Red Sox
slaughter play the Texas Rangers. I guess that means it'll likely be Clay Buchholz or John Lackey starting the game.
The onset of children has made going to baseball games a rarity. After seeing at least one Red Sox game every year from 2004-07, culminating in the heady Daisuke Matsuzaka debut in Kansas City, I missed three straight seasons. In those three seasons, the Red Sox have won zero World Series. Coincidence? I think not.
