Sox add to the comedy that has been their 2012 season by trading for native son and all-time comedian, Steven Wright, at the deadline. Unsurprisingly, Wright is a knuckleballer.

Strikeout, lineout for Beckett to start off. Now the terrifying Cabrera…is out on two pitches. Baseball!

No score for Sox after getting leadoff man on and loading bases with 2 out…but a 35-pitch first inning against the best pitcher on Earth is not a bad start. Still, there may be no other opportunities in this game…

Somehow (Verlander allergic to rain?) the Sox have scored 4 to the 1 Beckett allowed before being pulled (injury?). The game is official now after Mortensen got through the Detroit 5th.

Also Verlander has thrown 94 pitches through 4…pretty sweet!
Win last night after Detroit rally in 6th snuffed by the rain. But since the rain kind of aided their rally, seems only fair. Can’t remember last time Sox WON a rain-shortened game; they seem to be mostly losses in my memory.
Sweep ‘em, please.
