  • Hopefully the Yankees have just taken their own King Cole. Absolutely love this pick, and he’s not even an injury risk!

  • This post is also a turning point! After this, I predict we will begin seeing consistently more posts about random events that may or may not be viewed as turning points!

  • Immediate dividends. This kid is that good!

  • I don’t know about immediate – esp as a high schooler. Best case is two years. And he likely won’t play much this year, especially if the signing goes right to the deadline. So we’re looking at 2010 or 2011.

  • Forgot Giambi hit it out on an 0-2 count. Even sweeter (slightly)…

  • Sorry, Lar, I’m an idiot. Still confused by Sterling’s HR call and trying to figure out what happened in the game.

  • Cole is a bit of a long-term project. He’s a high school kid blessed with easy mid-90s heat, but he’s very, very raw (as are all high school pitchers). Like all high school pitchers they draft, they’ll take their time with him like they’re doing with Zach McAllister, who was drafted in 2006 out of high school and is just now in Tampa. Even if Cole breaks out like Phil did, remember that Hughes wasn’t up until 2007, three years after he was drafted in 2004.
