Under Construction

As you may or may not have noticed, and as SF intimated below, the categories to your left are in a bit of flux. We’re redoing them to better reflect the discussions that now take place at YFSF, as well as to provide a better and easier reference/research tool for you. The idea is that when we’re done, every post from the beginning of 2006
to now — and from now on — will be categorized into one or more of the 15 slots at the
left. The names and types likely will change a bit as we head toward Opening Day, and we’re always open to better ideas, so feel free to post some in the comments.

As always, these changes are designed to make YFSF a better place for our casual readers and avid posters alike — and just maybe serve as some sort of simple chronology for the greatest rivalry in sports. So pardon our dust, and do keep dropping by!

  • I have an idea for the site.
I asked earlier about how YanksFan ended up on the top of the masthead, SF said YF made a big stink, said someting about ESPN bias, then stormed out of the room…
Regardless of how it came to be, I had an idea.
What I propose is this, which ever team finishes the 2007 season better wins top placement in the masthead. I’m not suggesting you change the URL, just the masthead graphic. It can then serve as a testament to the previous season’s more successful team, a trophy held by the fans until after we fight for it again. Based on the tragic results of the 2006 season, the masthead already reflects the winner under this system. Just an idea, but thought it would be a fun little addition to the already wonderful rivalry so well represented on this site.

  • Why is Matsuzaka the only player to get his own category?

  • At some point every other post was about him. Not sure if it deserved a category (instead of a tag) but hey..

  • the matsuzaka category will be discontinued shortly; as lar notes, it dates from the explosioon of posts on the posting etc.
i’m not sure how we ended up with yanksfan-vs-soxfan and not vice versa, but for the sake of maintaining our identity and not confusing our readers and (especially) those who link to us and, this seems like something we’re best to just let stand. we are who we are at this point. the brand is the brand. and anyway, if we went by 06 we’d be yanksfan-vs-jaysfan.

  • Actually, it would be Cardsfan vs. Tigersfan, right?
    And who’s interested in that?

  • Well, as you can see, my idea was posted last night at midnight, after a night with friends watching Prison Break/24, so I was fired up and fueled with much wine… That being said, I still think it’s a cool idea, remember, I meant just the graphic, not the actual URL.
    Anywho, forget it, moving on…
    Where is this Russel guy?

  • Hi All,
A while back (last season some time, I think) someone over here contacted us about a link exchange. Our (my and my brother’s) site moved to a new location on NJ.com, and we’re finally able to do something about adding new links. Wasn’t sure of the best way to contact you, but I think this should work. I’m going to throw up a link to you guys, as I love the content. If you’d like to link to us, feel free.
    Thanks,
    Dave
