Wake In The House: Sox – Orioles Gamer II

Tim Wakefield has been reactivated and will take the mound for the Red Sox tonight against Erik Bedard and Baltimore at Camden Yards. Welcome back, Wake.

Lenny Dinardo and Curt Schilling are also expected to return to the roster this week. That’s good news for a banged up Sox staff. With the win yesterday, Boston now looks for a sweep and it’s first three-game streak since they defeated the Orioles three games in a row August 11-13th.

Line-ups are in the extended. This is your place to comment on tonight’s game.

  • Tim “There are those who call me Tim” Wakefield sets them down in order, finishing with a 3-pitch swinging strikeout.
Clearly, the Sox are making the playoffs.

  • Oh no, I’ve misquoted Python! (It’s “there are SOME who call me Tim”)
Clearly, the Sox are not making the playoffs.

  • LOL, Devine

  • Sorry about the sloppy game thread; I had to rush it. Fixed it up a bit. Enjoy the game, Soxeses.

  • Oh God, is that really the last time there was a 3-game win streak? Oh yeah, I remember getting all excited when they beat the Angels twice in a row. Ah, what a great couple months it’s been.
PS I’m here at work till 10 or 11. My mind is frazzled with lack of recreation this week (I get home and start sleeping, pretty much). No days off this past weekend, none I’m guessing this coming weekend. Stupid, stupid work.

  • So, brave Sox, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty big pointy beaks.

    attackgerbil September 13, 2006, 7:35 pm
  • But THAT does make me feel better, attackgerbil. Hee hee! Good stuff.

  • I haven’t watched that movie in years, but it was a monthly ritual back in college. I’m ashamed how well I know that script.

  • 2-0 O’s after 2 and a half. Two runs basically both scored on throwing errors. Delightful.

  • ARod!!! In the BLACK. Monster shot to center. WOW.

  • I know this wasn’t on purpose, but…taunter.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:03 pm
  • Come on, Papi. Pop one. Make me happy.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:05 pm
  • Darn…”in play, out(s) recorded” tends to make me think he didn’t hit a home run.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:06 pm
  • Sorry Devine. :) I do that way too often, but it’s been a little while.

    attackgerbil September 13, 2006, 8:06 pm
  • I wish someone from the Sox would play with some heart at this point.

  • WMP–walks after the 0-2 count. I like that.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:09 pm
  • Mike Lowell–grounds into the double play. I don’t like that.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:12 pm
  • Any new word on Manny?

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:14 pm
  • Haven’t heard a thing. Wish he’d come back because his being on the field makes me happy, but also because he’s on my fantasy team.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:16 pm
  • Glad to see you back, Mr. Wakefield, even if you’ve been rather hittable tonight.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:17 pm
  • At the very least, Wake is a quality starter which is something we have been missing the last month.

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:18 pm
  • Bases loaded for Markakis.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:18 pm
  • Got him, Gameday doesn’t say how yet, though.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:21 pm
  • It is like Wake was never hurt….he got rare offensive support prior to his injury and now they are realling showing no support for the guy.

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:21 pm
  • FC at 2nd…

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:21 pm
  • Man, Mirabelli is one sucky hitter.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:25 pm
  • I was initially glad to see him and Kapler back. They really have not done anything for us this year. Mirabelli’s numbers have sucked.
Not sure if I would want to see them back next year, perhaps we need to rebuild the bench players also.

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:27 pm
  • I know what you mean, Rob. I was kinda relieved to see Mirabelli back after some of the initial passed ball problems with Bard. Hard to look at the transaction to get him back as anything other than panic, though, with hindsight.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:30 pm
  • I wonder why Coco is not playing. I mean christ, the guy had a couple of months off. Maybe he should play and try to get better.

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:31 pm
  • Tejada has not made an out…

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:31 pm
  • agree…..
    regrets this season:

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:32 pm
  • I would even lump some other overpaid, no heart (see Clement) in this regret factor.

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:33 pm
  • Damn you Millar

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:34 pm
  • I’m not gonna complain too much about Arroyo myself. WMP has been good, filled in admirably with Crisp out and all. Admittedly Arroyo would have been more valuable *this* season than Pena, though.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:36 pm
  • Yeah, eff you Millar.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:36 pm
  • I agree about this season. I am looking at Wells balky knee to start the year and the problems Clement had to end last year and spring training. Definately not smart in hindsight to trade a decent starter and hope to replace him with two basket cases.

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:38 pm
  • Youk strikes out for the 3rd time.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:42 pm
  • And he wonders why they have started booing?

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:43 pm
  • Come on, Papi. Mash it.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:44 pm
  • Dang.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:45 pm
  • damn….

    Rob September 13, 2006, 8:45 pm
  • Think that was the first 1-2-3 Orioles inning since the 1st…

    Devine September 13, 2006, 8:56 pm
  • All right, come on now. Score a run. Just something.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 9:01 pm
  • You know what? I still think that when the Sox had Damon, they should have somehow played him in left. Then they could have called it the “Green Damonster.”

    Kevin September 13, 2006, 9:25 pm
  • The Sox are being 2-hit through 8. Ughly.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 9:28 pm
  • No #49 from Ortiz tonight, and the Sox are down to their last out.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 9:36 pm
  • And that’s that.

    Devine September 13, 2006, 9:37 pm
