Wanna Bet?

Here at YFSF we don’t condone illegal gambling, and we certainly wouldn’t want to take any chances with our hard-earned dough on either of our two teams’ ability to close during the post-season (if they make it, of course). But we figured that there have to be some inveterate gamblers out there looking for some numbers play, so for those vig-chasing daredevils we offer up a bit of action for this weekend’s series.  Place your bets!
  • Odds that the Sox bullpen coughs up a late game lead: 3:1
  • Odds that the Sox bullpen coughs up a slice of pastrami during a team visit to Katz’s: 35:1
  • Odds that Manny Ramirez loafs trying to score: 4:1
  • Odds that Manny Ramirez gets spotted early Sunday morning loafing around ‘Scores’: 12:1
  • Odds that the Sox leave NYC after the three game series with a lead in the Division: no odds, the lead is currently 4.
  • Odds that Yankees fans will deny the Sox left New York Sunday with a lead in the Division: 1:1

  • If Aaron pitches a shutout, how will the Sox bullpen give up a late lead?
If the Yankees sweep, does that mean the Devil Rays are currently better than the Sox?
    Just wondering.

  • Odds that Manny is spotted partying at a hotel bar with Sheff sometime this weekend?

  • Ah, John, you are invoking the transitive property of sports-team-bestness. It’s the true shelter for a fan of a second place team.

  • Hey Bozo– wouldn’t that be bad for Sheff, too? Worse, actually, because he’s the one out with injuries, not Manny.

  • Odds of Sox winning the division (1st time in 10 years, I might add): 86.1%
